Lead Engineer - Generator Mechanical
About the role
The employee will be responsible for the design and coordination of hydro generator. He/She will work on offers (ITO) and project execution (OTR). Most of the work will be done on installed based projects (transactional and simple retrofit projects).
Job Description
Essencial Responsibilities:
Operational Reliability: Ensure the reliable performance of machinery throughout installation, commissioning, and the warranty period.
Issue Resolution & RCA: Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on hydro power plant issues, develop physics-based hypotheses, and validate corrective actions across the fleet.
Risk Mitigation: Partner with engineering, construction, sourcing, and quality teams to drive proactive risk mitigation programs during ITO (Inquiry to Order) and OTR (Order to Remittance).
Fleet Data Analytics: Assess fleet reliability data to identify trends early, reduce fault/failure rates, and accelerate the cycle time for corrective action implementation.
Technical Communication: Provide the leadership team with accurate risk assessments and present technical findings to both internal stakeholders and customers.
Engineering Design & Modeling: Create detailed 2D/3D models and Model Based Definitions for generator components, ensuring designs meet cost, quality, and schedule requirements.
Interface Management: Manage component interfaces and maintain up-to-date, accurate digital assemblies within the linked model environment.
Compliance & Expertise: Adhere to all GE policies, engineering standards, and security regulations while staying current with industry advancements.
Required Qualification :
Bachelor’s Degree (University) in Mechanical Engineering
Fluent in written and spoken English and Portuguese
Familiar to Hydro Generator component definition, advanced GD&T skills, knowledge of ISO/ASME standards & proficient knowledge of NX software.
Knowledge of International standards related to material specification
Understanding of PLM processes.
Ability to work independently and capable of solving technical issues related to generator
Good level of understanding in computer aided manufacturing (CAM) and manufacturing processes
Good level of understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing as it relates to individual parts and overall assemblies (ANSI Y14.5)
Experience in Hydro Generator mechanical, Dimensioning of new machines, Recalculation of existing machines
General understanding of fluid mechanics (including oil, water, air, nitrogen, glycol or other)
