Duration: Temporary role for 12 months with the possibility of extension

Location: Montreal/Toronto

Bilingual: French/English required

The Project Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of the project lifecycle, from initiation through implementation and successful project closure, for complex ERP and system conversion initiatives. The role requires proven experience managing ERP migrations, large-scale data integrity activities and system transformation programs, ensuring alignment between business requirements, operational processes, data quality, and system capabilities.

The Project Manager will ensure the objectives and goals are met and the commitments on budget, quality, scope, and schedule are achieved following the standard management practices. The Project Manager is also responsible for ensuring that the efforts of the various internal functional are integrated in the best interest of the project. The Project Manager is able to facilitate communication with all stakeholders efficiently and effectively. The Project Manager directs, manages, and coordinates team partners including technology resources, user groups, internal and external consultants, contractors as well as vendors. From a client perspective, the project manager will need to work closely with the client and manage client expectations effectively.

Your future duties and responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

1. Program & Project Leadership

Lead complex, multi-stream finance transformation projects involving internal teams and cross-functional stakeholders

Manage the full project lifecycle, including:

o Planning & initiation

o Execution & delivery

o Change management

o Transition into business-as-usual operations

Ensure project phases are executed efficiently and completed on schedule.

2. ERP Migration and System Conversion

Lead ERP implementation, migration, upgrade, consolidation, or replacement initiatives involving complex business processes and system environments

Coordinate functional and technical workstreams, including configuration, customization, integration, reporting, security, infrastructure, and data conversion.

Ensure business requirements and operational processes are accurately translated into system capabilities and implementation deliverables.

Manage dependencies between legacy systems, target ERP platforms, interfaces, data repositories, and downstream applications.

Oversee cutover planning, deployment readiness, production transition, hypercare and post-implementation stabilization.

3. Stakeholder & Client Engagement

Build and sustain strong day-to-day relationships with client stakeholders across multiple organizational levels.

Act as a trusted advisor to the Project Sponsor, providing:

o Strategic guidance

o Decision support

o Ongoing communication

Conduct project briefings and stakeholder sessions to review status, progress, risks, and outcomes

Foster a collaborative partnership with the client to ensure successful delivery and adoption

4. Governance, Risk & Scope Management

Identify, quantify, and actively manage project risks and issues, leveraging prior experience to proactively mitigate risks.

Maintain and communicate risks, assumptions, and constraints, escalating as appropriate.

Rigorously manage scope, timelines, and cost to ensure commitments are delivered within agreed parameters.

Document and manage all changes to scope, cost, and schedule through structured change control processes.

5. Financial Management

Manage and validate project financials, including: -

o Budget tracking (Managing Capex / Opex budgets)

o Forecasting

o Resource cost reconciliation

Ensure alignment between financial performance and project delivery outcomes.

6. Monitoring & Reporting

Define and track project milestones and maintain a detailed, integrated project schedule

Continuously monitor and control project performance.

Provide regular and transparent reporting to stakeholders and sponsors, including:

o Status updates

o Risks/issues

o Recommendations and corrective actions

Required qualifications to be successful in this role

Technical Skills

5+ years of proven experience of managing ERP applications and data conversion activities

Strong understanding of:

o Data conversion and ERP integration

o Financial governance and controls

Demonstrated ability to manage global, matrixed teams and stakeholders

Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills

Experience leading steering committees and governance forums

Expertise in:

o Risk & issue management

o Financial tracking & forecasting

o Change management

Soft Skills

Fluent in English and French

Strong communication skills – To help manage client expectations effectively in ever changing technology landscape

Leadership – Project managers must demonstrate strong leadership skills to inspire and motivate the teams

Excellent relationship management and consulting skills - This results in an ability to earn the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders, mobilize and motivate teams, set direction and approach, resolve conflict, execute with limited information and ambiguity

Excellent vendor management, stakeholder management and influencing skills

Excellent risk management and negotiation skills

Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills which bring clarity and precision at various decision-making meetings

Solid problem-solving and critical-thinking skills

CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $80,000-$130,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
