Assistant Design Manager (Precast Industry)

Qualifications & Skills:

Bachelor Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.

Strong academic background in structural analysis and design.

5-10 years of experience in structural design, preferably with exposure to precast systems.

Proficiency in structural design software (e.g., STAAD, ETABS or MIDAS) and AutoCAD/BIM tools.

Knowledge of relevant design codes (Eurocode, BS or local equivalents)

Good communication, problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Role Summary:

The Assistant Design Manager is responsible to assist the Technical Manager to manage the Design/Technical Department to ensure the smooth running of the department and projects.

The Assistant Design Manager will need to oversee the Design Engineers to ensure design and detailing of precast concrete elements, ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and production requirements.

Assistant Design Manager to also liaise with Customers and internal stakeholders to oversee the precast rectification works at project sites.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Assist Technical Director to oversee the workload distribution of the designers/engineers and modellers

2. Plan and execute design activities in alignment with project timelines and site progress.

4. Assist designers/engineers to liaise with external consultants (architects, C&S, M&E) to:

Detect and resolve discrepancies in design documentation.

Understand construction sequencing to prioritize design deliverables.

Modify and optimize designs based on project requirements, production capabilities and site constraints

Obtain approvals for design outputs from clients and consultants.

5. Collaborate with internal departments (production, planning, QA/QC) to ensure seamless integration of design with manufacturing and site requirements.

6. Provide sketches and technical guidance to designers/engineers and BIM modelers/drafters to develop layout and shop drawings, erection drawinga and reinforcement detailing for precast concrete components (e.g., beams, columns, walls panels, slabs, staircases etc.).

7. Ensure drawings comply with relevant codes, standards and client specifications.

8. Work with Main Contractor to resolve any precast issues to develop Method of Statement (MoS) for any repair work required.

Pay: $3,500.00 - $7,500.00 per month
