Telco Regulatory Counsel

Axiom, a global leader in alternative legal services, is working with a well-known telecommunications and technology company seeking an experienced regulatory lawyer to join their legal team. This will be a full-time, 9 - 12 month role, based in Sydney. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a high-caliber team, providing thoughtful and practical legal guidance to a diverse group of internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

Provide timely, strategic, and commercially focused legal advice to support regulatory uplift programs, business decision-making, compliance, and customer outcomes.

Offer ongoing legal support on regulatory matters, ensuring compliance with telecommunications laws, industry codes, and emerging digital platform regulations.

Manage regulatory enforcement matters by mitigating legal risks, offering customer-focused advice, supervising external resources, and ensuring timely stakeholder reporting.

Promote legal and regulatory compliance through team training, education, and support for readiness and adherence to new and existing laws.

Qualifications:

Qualified Australian solicitor with over 5 years of legal experience, specializing in regulatory and telecommunications matters, and holding a law degree.

Experience in telecommunications or regulatory fields, adept at working in fast-paced environments and collaborating with diverse stakeholders.

Skilled in delivering commercially focused legal and regulatory support, with strong abilities in drafting, negotiation, project management, and communication.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and other standard office tools, with effective communication skills across all organizational levels.
