Senior Selenium Automation Tester - Cucumber, Java

Job Summary

Experienced test automation engineer to take on support and maintenance of our test automation frameworks for UI and API testing using Selenium, Appium and RESTAssured and written in Java.

Part of the role will involve supporting and developing the Harness pipeline templates offered by Testing Services in response to user feedback/issues.

The candidate will be required to provide support to our users and frontline support team, therefore will need to be a quick learner and a confident communicator in both written and spoken comms.

What you'll need

Experienced in developing test automation frameworks to aid the testing of complex systems using Selenium, Appium and RESTAssured.

Experienced in Java having contributed to the design, implementation and maintenance of applications in your chosen language

Some Experience in software testing techniques and software test automation

Knowledge of Object-Oriented Design principles, Design Patterns, and Clean Code practices.

Experience with CI/CD pipelines in particular use of Harness

Experience in using GitHub (GHE) for source control

Knowledge across the entire Software Lifecycle with an understanding of Software Testing Test Data and Test Environments

In addition, any experience of these would be useful

Some experience using TypeScript/JavaScript or C#.

Experience using Playwright.

Containerisation and Orchestration: Familiarity with Containerisation and Container Orchestration tools (i.e., Docker/Kubernetes).

DevOps Principles: Understanding of DevOps principles and infrastructure as code tools (i.e., Terraform).

Application of AI techniques in Software Development and Software Test Automation

Understanding and awareness or our architecture and test environments

Using AI-assisted development tools daily

Contributing to agentic solutions

Automating engineering activities using AI

Understanding Responsible AI principles

Experimenting with emerging AI technologies

Key Responsibilities

1. Develop robust automation scripts using cucumber, selenium, and java.

2. Collaborate with the development team to incorporate automated tests into the continuous integration/continuous deployment (ci/cd) pipeline.

3. Execute automated test suites and analyze results to identify software defects and performance issues.

4. Create and maintain test documentation and reports.

5. Work closely with quality assurance and development teams to ensure timely delivery of high-quality software products.

1. Experience in automation testing tools such as cucumber, selenium, and java.

2. Strong understanding of software testing methodologies and best practices.

3. Experience with test automation framework development and maintenance.

4. Ability to troubleshoot and debug complex software systems.

5. Good communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in a team environment.

6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Other Requirements

1.ISTQB Certification in Software Testing is a plus.
