Job Summary:

The Senior Manager/Manager, Emergency Department (ED) Support Services is responsible for leading the operational support functions that enable the efficient and safe delivery of emergency care. The incumbent oversees logistics, inventory management, facilities, operational infrastructure, and clinical space readiness to ensure the Emergency Department remains fully operational and responsive to service demands.

The role also leads the planning and coordination of clinical space renovations, infrastructure enhancement works and operational readiness activities, working closely with clinical, nursing, facilities management and corporate support teams to minimise service disruption while supporting continuous improvement of the ED environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. ED Support Services & Operational Infrastructure

Lead the day-to-day operational support functions that ensure the Emergency Department operates safely, efficiently and without disruption.

Oversee logistics, inventory management and equipment readiness to ensure essential supplies and resources are consistently available.

Lead facilities management, environmental readiness and infrastructure maintenance across the ED.

Plan and oversee clinical space renovations, refurbishment works, decanting exercises and commissioning activities, ensuring continuity of clinical operations throughout implementation.

Coordinate operational requirements for new equipment installations, infrastructure enhancement works and service reconfigurations.

Work closely with clinicians, nursing leaders, Facilities Management, Biomedical Engineering and corporate support departments to ensure operational readiness and timely resolution of infrastructure-related issues.

2. Logistics & Inventory Management

Establish effective inventory management practices to optimise stock availability while minimising wastage.

Monitor inventory utilisation trends and implement appropriate stock control measures.

Work closely with Materials Management and vendors to ensure timely procurement and replenishment.

Drive improvements in logistics workflows and storage optimisation.

Ensure compliance with inventory governance, audit and regulatory requirements.

3. Business & Resource Management

Manage departmental budgets relating to support services, logistics and facilities.

Monitor expenditure and identify opportunities for cost optimisation without compromising operational readiness.

Lead procurement, contract management and vendor performance reviews for support service contracts.

Support CAPEX and OPEX planning relating to infrastructure, equipment replacement and operational requirements.

4. Continuous Improvement & Service Excellence

Identify opportunities to streamline support service processes through workflow redesign and technology adoption.

Lead operational improvement projects that enhance efficiency, productivity and staff experience.

Develop operational dashboards and performance indicators to monitor service performance.

Support emergency preparedness exercises and business continuity planning for ED operations.

5. Team Leadership

Lead, supervise and develop the ED Support Services team.

Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability and continuous improvement.

Coach and develop staff to strengthen operational capabilities.

Build strong partnerships with clinical, nursing, facilities, logistics and corporate support departments.

Job Requirements:

Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or related discipline.

At least 5–8 years of relevant operational management experience, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting.

Experience in logistics, facilities management, inventory management or operational support services will be advantageous.

Strong project management and stakeholder management skills.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills.

Able to work effectively in a fast-paced operational environment.
