Application Support Engineer – COBOL Mainframe
About the role
We are seeking an experienced Application Support Engineer to provide production support for enterprise COBOL Mainframe applications. In this role, you will investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve incidents affecting critical business systems while ensuring system stability, performance, and availability. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to support ongoing operations, perform root cause analysis, and contribute to continuous service improvements.
Roles & Responsibilities
Provide application support for COBOL Mainframe systems and ensure the stability of business-critical applications.
Investigate, analyze, and resolve application incidents, production issues, and service requests within agreed service levels.
Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures to minimize recurring issues.
Troubleshoot batch processing failures, online transaction issues, and system performance problems.
Collaborate with development, infrastructure, database, and business teams to resolve complex technical issues.
Monitor application and system health, proactively identifying potential risks and performance concerns.
Analyze application logs, system outputs, and error reports to diagnose issues.
Support application deployments, maintenance activities, and production releases.
Create and maintain technical documentation, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge base articles.
Participate in incident, problem, and change management processes.
Share technical knowledge and best practices with team members to improve operational efficiency.

Expert proficiency in COBOL Mainframe.
Strong understanding of IBM Mainframe environments.
Experience with batch processing and online transaction processing.
Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and root cause analysis skills.
Experience analyzing application logs, job outputs, and system diagnostics.
Familiarity with system monitoring and performance tuning techniques.
Knowledge of incident, problem, and change management processes.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience supporting enterprise COBOL Mainframe applications in a production environment.
Experience with incident management, production support, and troubleshooting complex application issues.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
Pay: Php75,000.00 - Php95,000.00 per month
