Arup’s purpose, shared values and collaborative approach has set us apart for over 80 years, guiding how we shape a better world.

Join Arup’s Resilience, Security & Risk (RSR) team and help solve some of the most complex Fire Risk, Dangerous Goods, and Process Safety challenges across Australia, New Zealand, and the wider APAC region. As a Senior Engineer, you will provide technical leadership within your specialist discipline while contributing to the growth of Arup’s broader Risk & Process Safety capability. This role offers the opportunity to lead high-impact projects, mentor talented engineers, and deliver risk-based engineering solutions that create safer, more resilient operations, facilities, and infrastructure.

The Opportunity

Lead and deliver technically excellent Risk & Process Safety projects across Fire Risk, Dangerous Goods, and Process Safety disciplines.

Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and collaborate with internal specialists, external design partners, and clients to achieve integrated project outcomes.

Prepare, review, and sign off complex technical reports, compliance assessments, risk assessments, and engineering documentation.

Manage projects from proposal through to delivery, ensuring quality, budget, and timeline objectives are achieved.

Mentor and develop junior engineers while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and the growth of the Risk & Process Safety practice.

At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas.

You will have the opportunity do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.

Is this role right for you?

A recognised tertiary qualification in Engineering, preferably in Fire Safety, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering, with Chartered and relevant engineering registration.

Significant industry experience in Fire Risk, Dangerous Goods, Process Safety, or a closely related risk-based engineering discipline.

Strong technical expertise in areas such as complex risk assessments, compliance reviews, fire consequence assessment and modelling, or dangerous goods management.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts clearly to a range of stakeholders.

Proven leadership, project management, and mentoring capabilities, with a collaborative approach and a commitment to quality, integrity, and continuous learning.
