We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer specializing in Data Centres, where you will play a pivotal role in the design, implementation, and optimization of mechanical systems within mission-critical data centre facilities. Leveraging your expertise in mechanical engineering and your in-depth understanding of data centre infrastructure, you will lead the development of innovative solutions to meet the demanding requirements of high-density computing environments.

The Opportunity

Lead the design and delivery of mission-critical mechanical systems for some of Australia's most complex and high-profile data centre projects, supporting the infrastructure behind cloud computing, AI and emerging technologies

Take ownership of projects from concept design through to construction and commissioning, working alongside multidisciplinary teams and global clients to deliver innovative, resilient and sustainable solutions

Play a key technical leadership role within Arup's growing Data Centre business, mentoring engineers, shaping project outcomes and influencing best practice across the wider MEP team

Work on a diverse portfolio spanning new-build hyperscale facilities, campus expansions, upgrades and retrofit projects, giving you exposure to the full lifecycle of data centre development

Join an employee-owned organisation where your ideas, expertise and career development are valued, while helping to shape the future of digital infrastructure across Australia and the region

Is this role right for you?

You have extensive experience delivering mechanical building services projects within a consulting engineering environment, ideally with exposure to data centres, mission-critical facilities or complex technical buildings

You are a confident technical leader who can manage projects, coordinate multidisciplinary teams and provide guidance and mentorship to developing engineers

You bring strong commercial and client-facing skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships, lead meetings, contribute to business development and identify new opportunities

You have excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, enabling you to translate complex technical requirements into practical solutions for clients and project teams

You are proactive, solutions-focused and motivated by solving complex engineering challenges while delivering high-quality, sustainable outcomes
