The Role
We’re looking for a Principal Java Software Engineer to join a small, highly skilled team supporting and developing a life-critical government application used to coordinate search and rescue and pollution response incidents. You’ll work across the back-end Java, AWS and Oracle components that keep this system running, alongside experienced Java and .NET developers.
This is a great opportunity for a senior developer who enjoys deep technical ownership, working across the full stack from data modelling through to cloud integrations.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain enterprise-grade software using Java and Oracle technologies
Design and implement data models, and build RESTful/SOAP web services and API specifications
Develop and maintain DevOps workflows using Jenkins, Git, Maven and Ant
Produce and maintain detailed design artefacts and technical specifications
Provide technical advice and support to leadership, including participation in an on-call roster
Required
Current AGSVA Baseline security clearance
At least 8 years’ Java experience, including enterprise design patterns and Spring/SpringBoot
Experience with major database platforms and data modelling, Oracle preferred
Experience with AWS development (EC2, Lambdas, API Gateway, S3/SQS, CloudFormation)
Willingness to participate in a 24/7 on-call roster and strong written/verbal communication skills
