The job

Are you passionate about applying your chemistry expertise to solve real-world challenges? This 18-month fixed-term role is ideal for scientists who enjoy combining technical problem-solving with meaningful customer interaction.

As a Technical Application Scientist II, you will partner with researchers and customers to resolve complex chemistry-related questions that directly impact their success and the effective use of Thermo Fisher Scientific products. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions, while continuously expanding your technical knowledge across a diverse chemical product portfolio.

What will you do

Provide expert-level technical support for Thermo Fisher Scientific chemical product portfolios by addressing customer inquiries via telephone, email, and web chat.

Own and manage technical cases from initial inquiry through resolution, ensuring timely, high-quality customer support.

Collaborate with internal teams including Quality Assurance and Product Management to resolve complex technical issues and identify effective solutions.

Maintain accurate and detailed records of customer interactions within CRM systems to support service excellence and continuous improvement.

Proactively recommend enhancements to technical knowledge bases, websites, processes and other company-managed resources to improve usability and customer experience.

Invest in your professional development through ongoing product training, continuous learning, and exposure to new applications and emerging technologies.

Participate in cross-functional projects and special initiatives to broaden technical expertise and career development opportunities.

Education and competencies required

Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline.

1–5 years of hands-on laboratory experience, with demonstrated ability to troubleshoot experiments and interpret scientific data.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

Customer-focused mindset with a passion for delivering high-quality scientific support.

Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.

Fluency in German and English (required). Additional language (Spanish, French or Italian) is a plus.
