Position Summary

The Director, Operations is a member of the Canadian Leadership Team and is responsible for improving the effectiveness, efficiency, and scalability of operational activities across Kongsberg Discovery Canada. This individual will play a hands-on leadership role in building and strengthening the processes, systems, metrics, and operating discipline required to support the next stage of the business's growth. Working cross functionally, leading initiatives spanning hardware manufacturing, project execution, service delivery, quality, planning, and continuous improvement. This role is ideally suited to a highly collaborative and execution-oriented leader who enjoys building structure in growing organizations. The successful candidate will be comfortable working at both strategic and tactical levels, personally leading improvement initiatives, establishing new processes and operating rhythms, and driving organizational change through influence and hands-on execution.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership & Business Excellence

Serve as a member of the Canadian Leadership Team and contribute to business performance and execution.

Establish and maintain an effective operating cadence, including KPI reviews, forecasting, performance reporting, and action tracking.

Build practical systems, processes, and governance mechanisms that improve visibility, accountability, and decision-making.

Lead operational improvement initiatives that increase efficiency, scalability, and organizational effectiveness.

Manufacturing, Hardware Operations & Service Delivery

Lead manufacturing, hardware operations, production planning, procurement, logistics, inventory management, and field service activities.

Ensure operational capacity, resources, and processes support current and future business needs.

Drive improvements in quality, delivery performance, productivity, inventory management, and customer satisfaction.

Partner with Engineering and Product Management to support product introductions and operational readiness.

Oversee facilities and workplace operations to ensure a safe, efficient, and scalable working environment.

Business Process Improvement & Change Management

Lead cross-functional process improvement initiatives across operational and customer-facing functions.

Develop KPIs, dashboards, and reporting tools that support impactful, data-driven decision-making.

Standardize and improve business processes to enhance efficiency, consistency, and customer experience.

Project & Customer Delivery

Ensure successful delivery of customer commitments across products, projects, and services.

Partner with commercial, project management, and technical teams to improve project execution, scheduling, and resource utilization.

Financial & Business Performance

Own operational budgets and cost management initiatives.

Drive productivity improvements and operational scalability.

Support forecasting, capacity planning, and strategic growth initiatives.

Quality, Compliance & Risk Management

Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, quality, environmental, and safety requirements.

Foster a culture where safety, quality, and operational discipline are foundational principles.

Oversee risk identification, mitigation planning, corrective action processes, and business continuity initiatives.

Leadership & Organizational Development

Build, coach, and develop a high-performing operations team with a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement and customer focus.

Lead organizational change initiatives and help shape the future operating model of Kongsberg Discovery Canada.

Establish scalable structures, processes, and accountability mechanisms that enable the organization to grow effectively.

Qualifications

Required

10+ years of progressive leadership experience in operations, manufacturing, supply chain, project execution, and/or service delivery.

Experience leading cross-functional teams within a technology, hardware manufacturing, industrial, or engineering environment.

Demonstrated success improving business processes, implementing operational systems, and leading organizational change.

Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, forecasts, and operational metrics.

Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Operations Management, or equivalent experience; MBA is a bonus.

Experience in electronics, hardware assembly, or related high-technology industries.

Pay Range: $135,000 - $155,000 annually, DOE
