Position: Laser Sheet Metal Cutting Machine Operator Department: Production – Sheet Metal Fabrication Location: Manufacturing Unit Reporting To: Production Manager / Sheet Metal Manager

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled Laser Sheet Metal Cutting Machine Operator to operate CNC Laser Cutting Machines for manufacturing precision sheet metal components used in IT Hardware products such as Computer Cabinets, Server Chassis, Racks, Kiosks, and other fabricated parts. The candidate should have hands-on experience in machine setup, program execution, quality inspection, and preventive machine maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

Operate CNC Laser Sheet Metal Cutting Machines efficiently and safely.

Load and unload sheet metal (MS, GI, CRCA, Stainless Steel, Aluminium, etc.).

Read and understand engineering drawings and production work orders.

Set machine parameters according to material thickness and job requirements.

Execute cutting programs (DXF/Nesting Files) accurately.

Monitor cutting quality and make parameter adjustments when required.

Ensure dimensional accuracy as per engineering drawings.

Perform first-piece inspection before batch production.

Identify and segregate defective or damaged parts.

Maintain production targets and minimize material wastage.

Clean the machine and work area after every shift.

Report machine breakdowns immediately to the maintenance department.

Perform daily machine inspection and preventive maintenance.

Maintain production records and machine logbooks.

Follow all safety guidelines and PPE requirements.

Coordinate with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Design departments.

Required Skills

Hands-on experience operating CNC Laser Cutting Machines.

Knowledge of Sheet Metal Fabrication processes.

Ability to read engineering drawings.

Understanding of laser cutting parameters.

Knowledge of material thickness and cutting quality.

Basic understanding of nesting and DXF files.

Ability to use measuring instruments such as Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gauge, and Steel Scale.

Good troubleshooting skills.

Basic computer knowledge.

Technical Knowledge

Candidates should have knowledge of:

Educational Qualification

ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Fitter, Turner, Production, or a related trade.

Certification in CNC/Laser Machine Operation will be an added advantage.

Experience

Minimum: 2 Years

Preferred: 3–7 Years in Laser Sheet Metal Cutting Operations.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Daily production target achievement.

Cutting accuracy as per drawings.

Minimum material wastage.

Zero safety violations.

Machine uptime and proper maintenance.

Quality rejection within acceptable limits.

Timely completion of production schedules.
