About the role

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE JOB:

At Société Générale, Global Banking Technology & Operations (GBTO) Canada plays a key role in delivering mission-critical services to the investment and corporate banking businesses. We are at the heart of the bank’s transformation, driving agility, promoting a strong engineering and data culture, and accelerating decision-making through modern, industrialized delivery models. Our teams work across business lines and geographies to build scalable, innovative solutions.

Within this environment, the Market Risk and Collateral (MRC) team is part of the Cross Risk Metrics (XRM) department. We design and develop platforms that support the Market Risk function (RISQ), enabling the monitoring and control of key risk metrics and limits applied to Front Office activities.

As part of the AMER region, you will join a growing and high-impact team working on strategic initiatives. Reporting to the Regional Head of MRC, you will lead development activities for XRM/MRC in AMER , contributing directly to the evolution of critical risk platforms and strengthening the region’s role in global delivery.

YOUR MISSION

L ead people, transform platforms, and shape the future of Market Risk technology.

As a Technical Team Lead, your mission is to drive technical excellence and deliver business impact across Market Risk within a global banking environment.

You will lead and inspire a team of engineers while remaining hands-on , contributing to design, development, and code reviews. You will foster collaboration and continuous improvement through agile practices (stand-ups, retrospectives, backlog reviews), while guiding architectural decisions across a modern Azure-based platform.

A key responsibility is to drive the evolution from the Volcker Metrics Repository (VMR) to the strategic Metric Platform (MPT) . This is a progressive migration , where key features move to MPT while VMR remains critical and must be maintained in the coming years. You will define and execute this roadmap, balancing innovation with stability.

This includes transitioning from an Azure .NET 3-tier architecture to a modern data-driven ecosystem (Java, Kafka, Data Lake, Spark) . As a hands-on leader, you will support the team in building expertise and adopting scalable, event-driven design principles.

Working closely with end users, you will prioritize features and align delivery with business needs , while championing innovation such as agent-assisted development.

Over time, you will help strengthen AMER’s autonomy and expertise , making it a key contributor to global initiatives and adoption of the Metric Platform.

What will be your DAY-TO-DAY?

In this context, you will oversee the following missions:

Lead and empower the team through agile practices (stand-ups, retrospectives, backlog reviews, sprint planning), fostering ownership, collaboration, and high engineering standards via code reviews and mentoring.

Drive the VMR Metric Platform transformation , guiding the team through the shift from an Azure .NET 3-tier architecture to a modern ecosystem (Java, Kafka, Data Lake, Spark), and embedding event-driven and data-centric design principles.

Own technical direction and architecture decisions , ensuring consistency between current Azure-based solutions and the target platform while balancing short-term delivery with long-term strategy.

Partner closely with Market Risk and Front Office end users and stakeholders to prioritize the backlog, refine requirements, and ensure delivery of high-impact PnL and risk features.

Ensure platform stability and reliability by leading Level 3 support activities, investigating complex production issues, and driving root-cause analysis and continuous improvement.

Strengthen DevOps and engineering excellence , maintaining CI/CD pipelines, improving automation, managing code quality (SonarQube), addressing vulnerabilities, and ensuring compliance with internal standards.

Develop team capabilities and foster innovation , supporting the adoption of the Metric platform, upskilling on new technologies, and introducing modern practices such as agent-assisted development.
