ABOUT OCEAN FREIGHT OPERATIONS

The Ocean Freight Operations team plays a pivotal role in managing all ocean-bound imports and exports, utilizing a diverse range of equipment and services. The team collaborates closely with a network of ocean carriers, Procurement & capacity management (PCM), and participating in major carrier alliances to secure planned space protection from key container ports globally. This meticulous coordination is essential for ensuring a reliable and efficient transportation process for ocean-bound cargo.

JOB SUMMARY

As an integral part of Ocean Freight Import Operations, the incumbent role in ensuring the efficiency of import processes within the specified region. The role involves supporting the ocean-bound cargo movements. It involves coordinating with various processes, including vessel scheduling, cargo documentation, interaction with ocean carriers to constantly strive for optimizing efficiency, regulations, and maintaining high standards of service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational Excellence:

Ensure cost-effective, high-quality Import Ocean freight operations at satellite locations.

Handle a high volume of files and meet tight deadlines without sacrificing quality.

Co-ordinate with Consignee, destination office for green light approval.

Ensure operational compliance and error-free documentation on a timely basis.

Responsible for the smooth execution of Imports Operation functions.

Increase customer satisfaction (both internal/external) with best-in-class services.

Co-ordinate with gateway/CFS/ICD team for timely de-stuffing of containers.

Proactively report and manage Ops. Irregularity within 24 hours for irregularities such as excess landing, short landing, damages, etc.

Eliminate revenue leakage by plugging all possible gaps.

Co-ordinate with CBC team for timely clearance of DAP/DDU & DDP shipments and delivery of shipments to the consignee.

Coordinate with the team in closing transshipment bonds if any executed with the shipping line and customs.

Release documents to customers according to agreed SOP/COP (Cash/Credit).

Manage the vendor payment process and ensure shipment tracking.

Avoid claims and penalties due to service failures.

Handle customer complaints and overseas queries.

Implement CW1 Best Practices, including auto rating, auto costing, timely and accurate estimation of costs, milestone updation, and file hygiene checks.

Taking complete responsibility for independently managing customer accounts, guided by both supervisor and manager, following the 'one file, one operator' approach.

Stakeholder Management:

Increase customer satisfaction with best-in-class services.

Manage carrier, supplier, and network relationships.

Interface with sales teams and customer service teams.

Keep the customer service team informed about shipment-related updates.

Customer & Network Support:

Record complaints concerning all import shipments.

Undertake and assist in daily export operations tasks.

Address and resolve network-related issues.

Maintain regular communication with sales and support teams.

WHO CAN APPLY?

Must Have

Bachelor’s degree in any field required.

Proven experience in running smooth operations processes.

2-3 years of experience in the shipping or logistics for Executive/ Sr. Executive.

4-5 years of experience in the shipping/logistics industry for AM/DM.

Basic problem-solving skills to address common challenges.

Proficient in Email writing and verbal communication with internal and external coordination.

Preferred

Courses and certifications in business administration, operations management.

Completed Cargo Basic and Dangerous Goods courses.
