Temporary Utility Helper - North Dakota

We anticipate the need for one or more Temporary Utility Helper position to be located at our Fargo Service Center in Fargo, ND and Grand Forks, ND. The starting rate of pay for this position is $29.63 hourly. The anticipated start date for this position will be in August 2026 and could potentially extend for the remainder of 2026. This position will be posted for five business days from July 21st to June 28th, 2026.

Summary

In this position, you can assist in a variety of job function within Gas Operations. Work ranges from performing leak survey of our gas system to performing maintenance, installation and repair of our gas facilities. These positions work with regulation, metering, odorization, customer piping and below and above ground piping.

Minimum Requirement:

High school diploma or GED

Valid driver's license

Be able to lift 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous construction or mechanical work experience

Natural gas leak survey

There are two levels of gas helpers entry level and advanced. In order to be considered for placement in the advanced level, applicant must meet all requirements outlined above along with work experience in natural gas, polyfusion, possession of a CDL (Class A), operation of heavy equipment.

Placement within the two levels will be commensurate with candidate's skills, education, experience and need. Applicant is required to successfully pass the Xcel Energy screening requirements, which includes security clearance.

Bargaining

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $29.63 to $35.30 per hour
