About the Role
We're a product-focused fintech startup building a consumer mobile app that helps everyday users manage money more easily - think cash advances, early wage access, and credit building, all without interest or hard credit pulls. Founded in 2020 and backed by Series A funding, our small but mighty team (11–50 people) operates out of San Francisco.
We're looking for a Senior Android Software Engineer to take meaningful ownership of our core Android application. You'll work closely with product, engineering, and business leaders to craft polished consumer experiences and drive measurable impact on user happiness and growth.
What You'll Do
Design, implement, and maintain a high-quality consumer-facing Android app
Help build and evolve the mobile platform layer shared across the engineering team
Pragmatically solve complex technical and product problems at pace
Contribute meaningfully to product design decisions and technical direction
Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, and business stakeholders
Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers on the Android team
What We're Looking For
Required
2+ years of mobile engineering experience, with shipped consumer-facing apps (not solely B2B)
Strong Kotlin expertise for Android, including Jetpack Compose and modern app architecture (MVVM / Clean Architecture)
Experience with backend data formats and APIs common in mobile: protobufs, REST, and gRPC
Hands-on experience integrating Firebase services (Authentication, Firestore/Realtime Database, Cloud Messaging)
Proficiency with Android testing strategies (unit tests, instrumentation/UI tests) and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for mobile
Clear, effective communication and a proven ability to collaborate across functions
Nice to Have
Mentorship or technical leadership experience guiding junior mobile engineers
Familiarity with Dagger Hilt dependency injection
Exposure to Go, GCP, BigQuery, or MySQL on the backend

Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $160,000 – $200,000 USD annually

Location
This is an on-site role based in San Francisco, CA. Candidates should be prepared to work from the office regularly.
