Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop, and optimize firmware and embedded software for next-generation connected devices, industrial automation systems, automotive platforms, medical devices, and IoT products. This role focuses on developing high-performance, real-time embedded applications that interact directly with hardware components while ensuring reliability, security, and compliance with industry standards.

You will collaborate closely with hardware engineers, systems architects, electrical engineers, QA teams, and product managers to build embedded software solutions supporting mission-critical products deployed across enterprise and industrial environments. The ideal candidate possesses strong expertise in embedded C/C++, RTOS development, device drivers, communication protocols, and hardware-software integration.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain embedded software and firmware for microcontroller and microprocessor-based systems.

Develop low-level device drivers, Board Support Packages (BSP), bootloaders, and hardware abstraction layers (HAL).

Build real-time applications using RTOS platforms including FreeRTOS, VxWorks, ThreadX, Zephyr, or Embedded Linux.

Develop firmware supporting communication interfaces including UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, USB, Ethernet, BLE, and MQTT.

Collaborate with hardware engineers during board bring-up, hardware validation, and system integration activities.

Optimize embedded applications for CPU utilization, memory footprint, power consumption, and boot time.

Implement secure firmware update mechanisms, secure boot, encryption, and hardware-based security features.

Develop software supporting sensors, actuators, wireless modules, and peripheral devices.

Debug hardware-software integration issues using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG debuggers, and protocol analyzers.

Write unit tests, integration tests, and automated validation scripts to ensure firmware quality.

Participate in architecture reviews, code reviews, technical design discussions, and Agile development activities.

Support production deployments, field diagnostics, root cause analysis, and firmware maintenance.

Required Skills

Six or more years of professional embedded software development experience.

Strong proficiency in Embedded C and Modern C++ for firmware development.

Extensive experience developing software for ARM Cortex-M, ARM Cortex-A, STM32, NXP, Renesas, Texas Instruments, or Microchip microcontrollers.

Strong understanding of embedded systems architecture, memory management, interrupts, DMA, timers, and peripheral programming.

Hands-on experience with RTOS platforms including FreeRTOS, Zephyr, ThreadX, Embedded Linux, or VxWorks.

Experience developing device drivers and low-level hardware interfaces.

Strong knowledge of communication protocols including UART, SPI, I2C, CAN/CAN FD, Ethernet, USB, Modbus, MQTT, BLE, and TCP/IP.

Experience with Embedded Linux development, kernel configuration, and driver development is highly desirable.

Familiarity with hardware debugging tools including JTAG, SWD, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and serial protocol analyzers.

Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated firmware builds, and version control systems.

Strong understanding of software debugging, profiling, and optimization techniques.

Experience using build systems such as CMake, Makefiles, or Bazel.

Knowledge of secure coding practices for embedded systems.

Experience working in Agile Scrum development environments.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience developing software for automotive, aerospace, medical devices, industrial automation, robotics, or IoT platforms.

Familiarity with AUTOSAR, MISRA C/C++, ISO 26262, IEC 61508, DO-178C, IEC 62304, or other industry safety standards.

Experience with Yocto Project, Buildroot, or custom Embedded Linux distributions.

Knowledge of wireless communication technologies including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), Zigbee, LoRaWAN, or Cellular IoT.

Experience implementing secure boot, TPM integration, Trusted Execution Environment (TEE), and firmware signing.

Familiarity with FPGA integration and hardware acceleration.

Experience using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or GitLab CI for firmware automation.

Knowledge of Python or Shell scripting for test automation and manufacturing support.

Experience with cloud-connected IoT platforms including AWS IoT Core, Azure IoT Hub, or Google Cloud IoT.

Embedded systems certifications or contributions to open-source embedded projects are highly desirable.

Project Environment

You will be joining an embedded engineering team developing next-generation intelligent devices and connected systems supporting enterprise and industrial customers. Current initiatives include:

Industrial IoT gateways and edge computing platforms

Smart manufacturing and factory automation controllers

Automotive electronic control units (ECUs)

Medical monitoring and diagnostic devices

Connected consumer electronics and smart home devices

Wireless sensor networks and edge AI platforms

Embedded Linux networking appliances

Secure firmware platforms supporting OTA (Over-the-Air) software updates

High-performance embedded systems deployed across mission-critical environments

This is a hands-on engineering role where you will contribute to firmware architecture, embedded software development, hardware integration, system validation, performance optimization, and long-term product reliability for enterprise-grade embedded solutions.
