UW Medicine’s Patient Financial Services has an outstanding opportunity for a Patient Account Representative 1.
WORK SCHEDULE
40 hours per week
Day Shift
100% Onsite - Sand Point Location
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Screen, scan and process incoming correspondence to ensure routing to appropriate work queues/units;
Print, distribute and mail claims; process returned mail;
Print medical records and itemizations as required for claims submission;
Produce and print account summaries, itemizations, and other documents as required, in response to requests from attorneys and others;
Perform data entry; document activities accurately in all applicable systems, and in accordance with departmental policies and procedures;
Post adjustments to patient accounts according to departmental procedures;
Post and balance daily remittances to patient accounts; post allowances and adjustments accompanying cash remittances;
Maintain confidentiality of information, including protected health information (PHI);
Participate in and attend meetings and training as required;
May assist in orienting and training new staff;
May occasionally speak to patients, clinical staff, or third-party payers
REQUIREMENTS
High School graduation or equivalent AND one year of experience in patient accounting, customer service, or a related office environment.
Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
DESIRED
Knowledge of UB, CMS 1500, ADA and other utilized billing forms and payer requirements.
Knowledge of Epic Hospital Billing and/or Professional Billing, and registration systems.
