About the role
Seven West Media is seeking a strategic, commercially minded finance leader to join our Perth-based team as Head of Financial Accounting.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of robust, accurate and timely financial reporting. As a trusted partner to senior leaders across the business, you will influence decision-making through commercial insight, strong financial stewardship and a commitment to delivering reporting excellence.
Leading a team of financial accountants, you will champion governance, compliance and continuous improvement while helping drive organisational performance and strategic growth. This is a highly visible leadership opportunity offering broad exposure across the business, significant executive engagement and the ability to make a meaningful impact beyond the finance function.
About the role:
The role plays a critical role in shaping financial performance through strong leadership, commercial partnership and the delivery of accurate and insightful financial information that supports strategic business outcomes.
Leading the preparation and review of monthly financial and management reporting across the Group.
Ensuring the accuracy and integrity of general ledger accounting, journals, reconciliations and financial analysis.
Delivering meaningful financial insights, commentary and recommendations to the CFO and Group stakeholders.
Managing cash flow, working capital and intercompany reporting activities.
Overseeing fixed asset accounting and lease reporting in accordance with accounting standards, including AASB16.
Leading statutory reporting requirements, including half-year and year-end financial statements.
Managing relationships with external auditors and coordinating audit activities.
Supporting budgeting, forecasting and business planning activities.
Preparing and reviewing business cases, commercial analysis and ad hoc strategic projects.
Providing financial guidance on contracts, compliance and reporting obligations, including Modern Slavery reporting requirements.
Leading, mentoring and developing a team of finance professionals across financial accounting and shared services.
Driving continuous improvement initiatives across finance systems, processes, controls and reporting.
About you:
You are a highly capable finance professional with a strong technical accounting background and a passion for leadership, business partnering and continuous improvement.
You will bring:
CA or CPA qualification.
Degree qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
Extensive post-qualification experience within a commercial environment.
Demonstrated experience leading and developing high-performing finance teams.
Strong technical accounting expertise, including statutory and management reporting.
Experience working with auditors and managing complex reporting obligations.
Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate financial information into business insights.
Excellent stakeholder management skills with the confidence to engage at executive level.
Advanced Excel capabilities and experience working with ERP systems.
Outstanding communication, presentation and relationship-building skills.
The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results within tight deadlines.
Experience within the media, publishing or broader corporate sector will be highly regarded.
Most importantly, you are a leader who is curious, collaborative and solutions-focused, with a genuine desire to contribute beyond the numbers.
