BASIC FUNCTION
The Engineer is responsible to complete basic level of development engineering assignments by following prescribed procedures. This role will also executes projects by reusing a production technology or architecture based on existing product(s).
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate testing activities according to test plans for the development of new engines, improvement of current engines and customization for new applications.
Develop testing activities for new product design, product improvements, customer product applications. Develop and validate, from functional and reliability point of views, technical solutions for products, systems and components.
Coordinate testing and development activities of engines executed by other teams.
Act as reference for other function (Design, Quality, Manufacturing, Assembly) for testing activities on assigned engines.
Direct work on assigned projects by technicians, involving testing and experimental activities.
Prepares test plans, including task breakdowns and timeline and submit them to the manager
Prepare technical reports as requested to show progress and results achieved.
Establishes specifications, test plans and design documentation that satisfies a wide range of requirements.
Able to understand, discuss or request complex engineering analysis by the CAE team.
Demonstrates a curious and pragmatic mind with the capacity to learn.
Keep updated of state-of-the-art and important events in areas relevant to engine technologies, including electronic control, through publications, outside contacts, meetings, shows, seminars and short courses.
Support to manufacturing in case of new product start of production to assess thresholds and methodology of tests
RELATIONSHIPS AND CONTACTS
Supervisory Relationships:
Reports to the Manager-Product Development, Diesel Engines;
Organization Relationships:
Frequent contact with Product Concept, Platform, Engine Integration, and Quality teams
Contact with Product Validation Team
Operates under close supervision
Works closely and effectively with a range of cross-functional associates
Integrates the work of technical experts into projects and assignments
Contributes effectively as a team member
External Business Relationships:
Occasional contact with engine component suppliers
Occasional contact with customers
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
One year of related work experience or solid internship is preferred.
TECHNICAL KNOW-HOW COMPULSORY TO COVER THIS POSITION
Basic knowledge of engine technology and components
Good knowledge of engine operation and Diesel combustion and emission process
Basic knowledge of electronics and electro-technical
Basic knowledge of electronic injection and control systems, technology and components.
Basic knowledge of project management and problem solving
Basic knowledge of Reliability Risk Analysis tools
Basic knowledge of ISO norms on engine performance measurements
Basic knowledge of NPD process
Basic knowledge of AVL-Puma test automation systems, AVL-Concerto, AVL-Cameo.
Ability to work with acquisition systems, tools and devices (Etas, Vector, AVL)
Good knowledge of Calibration tools (i.e. INCA)
Basic knowledge of Calibration Management tools (i.e. Creta)
Ability to use modeling and post-processing tools (i.e. Matlab, Simulink)
Basic knowledge and ability to utilize MS Project
Upper intermediate English knowledge required, both written and verbal
