Fluidics Development Engineer, Biosensors

Description

The Biosensors Group is part of the Digital Healthcare Business Unit and is developing a portfolio of sensor platforms that will enable new business franchises for ADI. Current projects include precision sensing platforms targeted at the healthcare services and medical technology market.

The team is looking for a Fluidics Development Engineer to join the Systems Engineering team in Limerick, Ireland . The role supports the development, characterisation, verification and validation of the fluidic and mechanical components within a prototype sensor product. This position is well suited to an engineer who enjoys hands-on engineering, testing development, and cross-functional product work.

A successful candidate will contribute across a broad range of activities, including development of test rigs and fixtures, execution of characterisation and verification studies, and support for system integration as products move toward commercialization. The role works closely with multiple teams such as Sensor and Fluidics Design, Firmware, Biology, Manufacturing, Reliability, and Algorithm Development.

Roles & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

Support the design, build, and improvement of test rigs, fixtures, and experimental setups for fluidic and mechanical system verification.

Support the definition and execution of verification and validation activities across multiple stages of product development.

Perform characterisation testing on components and subsystems, analyse results, and communicate findings clearly to the wider team.

Collaborate with architects, design engineers, test teams, reliability teams, manufacturing teams, and applications teams to support product development.

Investigate issues, identify root causes, and contribute to practical engineering solutions.

Support interactions with external partners and internal stakeholders where needed.

Research and stay current on relevant developments in mechanical, fluidic, and test technologies.

Qualifications & Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, with 3+ years of relevant industry experience.

Experience developing, building, or using test rigs, fixtures, instrumentation, or laboratory setups.

Strong grounding in mechanical engineering principles, with interest in fluidic or sensor-based systems.

Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a cross-functional engineering team.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation of technical findings.

A practical and curious approach to solving multidisciplinary engineering challenges.

Advantageous Skills

Experience with fluidic systems or laboratory instrumentation.

Experience in medical devices, diagnostics, life sciences, or regulated product development.

Experience with electrochemical, optical, or other sensor-based products.

Experience with analytical or numerical modelling.

Experience with mechanical design software or CAD tools.
