About the role
The MES IT Specialist is a recognized subject matter expert within Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), responsible for leading the design, implementation, validation, and continuous improvement of digital manufacturing solutions in regulated pharmaceutical environments. The role combines deep technical expertise with strategic leadership, ensuring MES solutions are compliant, scalable, and aligned with business objectives.
The specialist works closely with Process Engineers, QA, Production, Automation, and IT/OT teams to translate manufacturing requirements into robust MES solutions, leveraging platforms such as PAS-X and other industry-standard MES technologies. In addition to driving technical excellence, the role provides mentoring, governance, and thought leadership to strengthen organizational capabilities and delivery quality across projects.

How you might spend your days
As a MES IT Specialist, you will:
Lead and execute complex MES implementation and optimization projects.
Define MES architecture, solution standards, and best practices.
Act as the primary technical authority and trusted advisor for MES-related decisions.
Drive design, configuration, testing, validation, and deployment activities.
Ensure compliance with GMP, GAMP5, Annex 11, 21 CFR Part 11, and Data Integrity requirements.
Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between Manufacturing, QA, Automation, IT, and Business stakeholders.
Lead technical workshops, solution reviews, and architecture discussions.
Mentor and develop MES engineers and analysts through coaching and technical guidance.
Contribute to innovation initiatives, capability building, and continuous improvement of NNE's MES services and methodologies.
Support strategic business growth by identifying opportunities for standardization, digitalization, and operational excellence.

What you bring to the role
In all positions there are some things that are needed, and others a bonus. We believe these qualifications are needed for you to do well in this role:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Life Sciences, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
12+ years of experience in Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) within the pharmaceutical, biotech, or regulated manufacturing industry.
Strong hands-on experience with MES platforms such as Körber PAS-X or equivalent MES solutions.
Deep understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and electronic batch record (EBR) solutions.
Expert knowledge of ISA-88, ISA-95, GMP, GAMP5, Annex 11, 21 CFR Part 11, Data Integrity, and computerized system validation principles.
Proven experience leading MES solution design, configuration, testing, deployment, and validation activities across complex projects.
Strong understanding of MES integration with ERP, Automation, DCS, Historians, and other manufacturing systems.
Demonstrated ability to lead technical discussions, conduct customer workshops, and provide strategic guidance to stakeholders.
Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to capability development through coaching, knowledge sharing, and technical leadership.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence decisions across projects and disciplines.
