What you will be doing:

In this rewarding role, you will:

Coordinate referrals, undertaking initial assessments and triage, and ensuring people receive the most appropriate support for their needs.

Manage waiting lists, caseloads and service allocations to ensure timely access to bereavement support.

Facilitate bereavement support groups and coordinating the staff and volunteers who help deliver these services.

Manage recruiting, training, supervising and supporting volunteers, ensuring they feel confident, safe and valued in their role.

Provide compassionate bereavement support to individuals and families through face-to-face sessions, telephone calls, video appointments and support groups.

Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure families receive information, guidance and support following bereavement.

Provide emotional and psychological support to bereaved individuals and identifying when additional specialist support or external referrals may be required.

Liaise with healthcare professionals and community organisations to provide a joined-up approach to bereavement care.

Coordinate bereavement-related events and encouraging participation from staff, volunteers and the wider community.

Maintain accurate records, managing service administration and ensuring all activity meets Marie Curie policies and professional standards.

Contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings and supporting the wider priorities and objectives of Marie Curie.

What we’re looking for:

A recognised counselling qualification (DipHE, Foundation Degree in Counselling, or equivalent).

Professional membership of BACP, IABACP, or another recognised counselling/psychotherapy body.

Experience supporting people affected by bereavement, loss, or end-of-life issues.

The ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, volunteers and external partners.

Excellent organisational skills, with experience managing referrals and caseloads.

Salary: Marie Curie Clinical Pay Scale Band 6 £43,231 to £52,679 pro rata per annum

Contract: Permanent Part Time 30 hours per week

Base: Onsite Marie Curie Hospice Edinburgh Frogston Road West EH10 7DR
