Job Summary

As a Security Engineering - Engineer, you thrive on collaborating with your team to design and deliver superior security and network experiences for our customers. You apply broad knowledge in the Information, Engineering and Cyber Security Domains to help shape the security controls required within solution designs (both people, process and technical) and support your team to identify, communicate and help treat corresponding security risks.

Your continuous learning and improvement mindset and collaboration skills are critical to success in this role, as you continue to deepen your knowledge and expertise in the Information, Engineering and Cyber Security domains – including security technologies, cloud and corporate networks.

Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking an AI Security Engineer to support the practical adoption of AI-enabled security capabilities, improve automation, and help uplift detection and response across the organisation.

Working alongside senior engineers and the AI Security Principal, you will contribute to building, integrating, and improving AI-driven security solutions across detection, response, application security, and cyber assurance initiatives.

This role is designed as a developing engineering role, with an emphasis on hands-on learning, guided delivery, and progressive capability uplift. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to practical engineering outcomes while building deeper expertise in AI security, automation, and enterprise cyber operations.

Key Responsibilities

Capability Delivery Support

Contribute to the development and implementation of AI-enabled security capabilities.

Assist in translating defined requirements into automation workflows and engineering outputs.

Support delivery activities across security engineering and cyber operations teams.

AI & Automation Engineering

Develop and maintain AI-enabled security workflows under guidance from senior engineers.

Build and enhance automation scripts, reusable components, and workflow integrations.

Support integration of AI and automation into existing security tools, platforms, and operational processes.

Troubleshoot AI-driven workflows, automation logic, data flows, and integrations to improve reliability and accuracy.

Apply structured problem-solving to investigate unexpected outputs, workflow failures, or data inconsistencies.

Technology Evaluation & Integration Support

Support onboarding and integration of AI security tools and platforms.

Assist with testing, validation, and proof-of-concept activities.

Work with internal teams and vendors to help resolve implementation issues.

Operational & Data Support

Analyse security data, telemetry, alerts, and workflow outputs to identify trends, gaps, and improvement opportunities.

Contribute to dashboards, metrics, and reporting that demonstrate capability performance and operational value.

Support optimisation of detection, response, and automation workflows through evidence-based insights.

Assess AI and automation outputs to determine accuracy, relevance, reliability, and operational usefulness, escalating concerns or potential issues where appropriate.

Escalate issues with clear analysis, supporting evidence, and practical recommendations.

Learning, Enablement & Collaboration

Work closely with engineers, SOC analysts, and architects to support capability uplift.

Actively learn and apply AI, automation, and cyber security practices.

Contribute to team knowledge sharing and documentation.

Collaborate with relevant governance, architecture, and security teams to help ensure AI-enabled security solutions align with agreed standards and controls.

Required Skills & Experience

Foundational experience in software engineering, scripting, automation, or technical problem-solving, such as Python, PowerShell, APIs, or workflow automation.

Basic understanding of software development practices, such as version control, testing, debugging, documentation, and working with reusable code or scripts.

Basic understanding of cyber security concepts, security operations, application security, cloud security, or enterprise risk.

Exposure to data analysis, telemetry, logs, alerts, or working with structured and unstructured data.

Ability to troubleshoot issues methodically across systems, data flows, workflows, and integrations.

Critical thinking skills, including the ability to question assumptions, validate outputs, and identify when results may be incorrect, incomplete, or misleading.

Ability to break down complex problems into manageable steps and seek guidance when required.

Strong willingness to learn and develop in AI, automation, and security domains.

Preferred Qualifications

Exposure to security tools such as SIEM or endpoint platforms.

Familiarity with cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).

Awareness of AI/ML concepts or tools, such as LLMs, APIs, or automation assistants.

Relevant certifications or studies in cyber security, IT, or data/AI.

Who You Are

Curious, motivated, and eager to learn new technologies, particularly AI, automation, and cyber security.

Collaborative and comfortable working with guidance from senior engineers, analysts, and architects.

Detail-oriented, structured, and willing to follow secure engineering and operational processes.

Inquisitive and willing to validate outcomes rather than accepting AI or automation outputs at face value.

Comfortable working through ambiguous technical problems and escalating clearly when support is needed.

Interested in building practical, real-world engineering and automation skills in an enterprise environment.

Why This Role is Different

Opportunity to build practical AI and security engineering skills in a real enterprise environment.

Exposure to cutting-edge AI security capabilities and tooling.

Structured development path with mentorship from senior engineers and capability leads.
