
Fleet Operations Manager
About the role
We are looking for a Fleet Operations Manager to own the end-to-end lifecycle of our drivers, owner-operators, ISPs, and fleet partners. In this role, you will lead recruitment, onboarding, compliance, and ongoing relationship management while ensuring a seamless experience from initial engagement through day-to-day operations. You will work cross-functionally with Operations, Dispatch, Safety, Payroll, and Product teams to build scalable processes, maintain regulatory compliance, improve operational efficiency, and support the long-term success and retention of our driver and fleet network.
Key Responsibilities
Recruit, onboard, and manage drivers, owner-operators, ISPs, and fleet partners operating under the company's authority.
Build and maintain long-term relationships with drivers, fleet owners, and independent contractors.
Own the complete onboarding process, including document collection, contracts, compliance, and system setup.
Coordinate driver qualification, background checks, drug testing (when required), and other onboarding requirements.
Manage fleet onboarding, vehicle qualification, insurance verification, telematics, ELD, GPS tracking, and equipment requirements.
Ensure compliance with company policies, FMCSA regulations, safety standards, and customer-specific requirements.
Serve as the primary point of contact for drivers, owner-operators, and fleet partners regarding administrative and compliance matters.
Work closely with Dispatch, Safety, Payroll, Accounting, Operations, and Carrier Relations teams.
Collaborate with the IT/Product team to design and improve onboarding workflows, driver and fleet management tools, mobile app features, and operational automations.
Prepare, maintain, and update contracts, SOPs, onboarding documentation, and operational policies.
Monitor driver, fleet, and owner-operator performance, retention, compliance, and operational KPIs while continuously improving processes.

Work schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5 pm EST

Requirements
2+ years of experience managing drivers, owner-operators, fleets, or contractor programs within the U.S. transportation industry.
Strong understanding of FMCSA/DOT regulations, driver qualification files, fleet compliance, and safety requirements.
Experience with driver and fleet onboarding, compliance, and document management.
Knowledge of ELD, telematics, GPS tracking, fleet technology, and driver mobile applications.
Experience working with TMS platforms and driver/fleet management systems.
Excellent organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to build scalable processes in a fast-growing environment.
Nice to Have
Experience building an owner-operator, ISP, or fleet program from the ground up.
Experience managing leased fleets and independent contractor programs.
Knowledge of equipment leasing, contractor agreements, and fleet compliance.
