This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As part of a hardworking team of specialists, you will work closely with engineering design to support all manufacturing efforts for machined components on mills, lathes and multi axis machines for various spaceflight systems. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will translate engineering intent, drawings, and configurations into work instructions that will produce high quality hardware. Throughout the manufacturing process, you will also identify, develop, and deploy methods to improve quality, reduce cost, and optimize machining processes and schedules. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.

B Shift: Monday-Thursday 3:00PM-1:30AM

Additional responsibilities include:

Identify, develop, and deploy or refine manufacturing methods to improve quality, reduce cost and optimize build schedule

Translate engineering intent, drawings, and configurations into fully functional, high quality machined components

Develop manufacturing work instructions to clearly define manufacturing process

Define how to set up hardware for machining on mills, lathes, multi-axis and EDM machines

Conduct DFM and PFMEA studies to strengthen the feedback loop between design and machining

Perform engineering drawing review and provide final approval for manufacturing

Define and support repair and rework activities for machined components

Design, procure, install, and integrate custom manufacturing equipment

Perform root cause analyses when non-conformances and escapes are identified and deploy corrective actions

Manage hardware configuration and maintain pedigree throughout the entire machining process

Safely work within an industrial environment

10% travel to Blue Origin sites: AL, FL, and TX

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering, or other relevant experience

2+ years of machining experience developing manufacturing process requirements

Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, written work instructions, and test procedures

Experience with designing, measuring, modifying, and monitoring processes

Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately at all levels of the organization

Excellent blueprint reading skills including GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994 standard

Detail-oriented and self-motivated individual capable of prioritizing work to meet project completion dates

Desired:

Experience with component-level fabrication processes (machining, grinding, forging, welding, casting, etc.)

Familiar with hard metals, casting, and 3D printed components

Familiar with applicable industry standards

Excellent technical writing, grammar, and presentation experience

Base Pay Range for:

WA applicants is $91,852.00 - $128,592.45

Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing, vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.

Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
