Job Summary:
The Zonal Head in our logistics company will be responsible for overseeing and managing operations within a defined zone, ensuring seamless and efficient logistics management. This includes strategic planning, resource allocation, performance monitoring, and fostering strong relationships with customers and stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic leader with deep experience in logistics, supply chain management, and a proven track record in operations leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management:
Lead and mentor a team of managers and staff across multiple locations within the zone.
Ensure that operational goals are met and that staff performance is aligned with the company’s strategic objectives.
Develop and implement training programs to ensure team skill development and alignment with best practices.
Operational Excellence:
Oversee daily logistics operations within the zone, including transportation, warehousing, inventory management, and delivery.
Ensure efficient management of the supply chain by optimizing routes, reducing costs, and minimizing delays.
Establish and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure operational efficiency and productivity.
Strategic Planning & Execution:
Develop and execute short-term and long-term operational strategies to meet company goals.
Analyze and forecast demand and logistics needs for the zone and ensure resource availability.
Drive process improvements to optimize costs, timelines, and service delivery.
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement:
Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, vendors, and other external stakeholders.
Address and resolve operational issues in a timely manner to ensure customer satisfaction.
Ensure that service level agreements (SLAs) are met and exceeded, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
Budget & Financial Management:
Manage budgets within the zone, ensuring that operations are carried out efficiently and cost-effectively.
Identify areas for cost reduction without compromising on service quality.
Monitor financial performance and report regularly to senior management.
Compliance & Safety:
Ensure all operations comply with local, regional, and national laws, including health and safety regulations.
Promote a culture of safety by enforcing safety protocols and procedures across the zone.
Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure operational compliance.
Technology & Systems Utilization:
Leverage logistics software, ERP systems, and technology solutions to optimize performance and streamline operations.
Stay updated on the latest trends in logistics technology to drive innovation within the zone.
Risk Management:
Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them, including those related to transportation, inventory, and human resources.
Ensure business continuity by implementing disaster recovery and contingency plans.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or operations management, with at least 3 years in a leadership or senior management role.
Industry Experience: Experience in managing operations in the logistics, transportation, or supply chain industry is a must.
Leadership: Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and drive change within an organization.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with various levels of the organization and external stakeholders.
Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on operational efficiency.
Technology Skills: Proficient in logistics software and systems (e.g., WMS, TMS, ERP) and Microsoft Office Suite.
