Position:

Cortland Credit has an opening for a Director, Marketing and Communications on its team. This position will be located in our Toronto office at 200 Bay Street.

Overview:

The Director, Marketing and Communications is responsible for crafting the overall vision, strategy, and direction as well as guiding the implementation of the marketing content strategy.

The Director, Marketing and Communications is also accountable for delivering the creation and distribution of marketing content across multiple platforms and formats to ultimately drive sales, acquisition of new business, increase investor and advisor engagement, and promote Cortland’s brand, products, and services to both advisors and investors.

Major Responsibilities:

Provides strategic and creative leadership for content marketing from concept through execution and measurement.

Quarterback the development of content across multiple channels and formats to drive sales, financial advisor engagement, and brand impact.

Partner closely with Portfolio Management and Business Development to align content strategy to business priorities.

Build marketing that turns attention into trust, conviction, and customer action.

Drive innovation and focus on the highest-value opportunities.

Develop a long-term content marketing plan that translates business goals into actionable priorities.

Build strong business cases and secure alignment from senior management for content marketing initiatives.

Present content strategy recommendations to senior executives and influence decision-making.

Adhere to compliance procedures and regulatory requirements, ensuring that materials are reviewed and approved by the Chief Compliance Officer prior to distribution to external parties.

Gather and collect industry knowledge, market trends, competitive insights and maintain an understanding of the environment for alternative products.

Skills & Qualification Requirements:

University degree in business, finance or related fields. CSC or CAIA designations is an asset.

A minimum of 5-10 years of investment industry experience in marketing and communications.

Exceptional interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including copywriting and strong editorial mindset - capable of presenting ideas effectively to both individuals and groups.

A self-starter who is highly motivated and able to take the initiative required to achieve set goals and objectives.

Detail-oriented person who can work both independently and within a team with excellent organizational skills.

Comfort in handling many projects simultaneously, to manage tight deadlines, and ability to pivot and manage changing priorities.

Ability to think strategically while remaining hands on and execution focused.

Have a deep working knowledge of the financial services industry with a solid understanding of wealth management, capital markets and personal finance.

Excellent follow-up skills with the ability to effectively resolve problems in a timely manner using relevant information, sound reasoning and common sense.

Proficiency in MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), marketing and analytics tools (Canva, Google Analytics) and any other marketing tools.

* Demonstrated success developing and executing digital marketing strategies that drive measurable business outcomes, customer acquisition, engagement, and retention.
