Fullstack Engineer, Privacy Tools & Vehicle Data
Skills
About the role
What to Expect
Tesla vehicles are software-defined; they generate millions of data points that power features like Full Self-Driving, the touchscreen interface, and the Mobile App that doubles as your key.
With that capability comes responsibility, and Tesla is committed to transparency about the data vehicles collect. Owners have the right to get a copy of what their vehicle collects and to request a copy whenever they need it. Whether they’re reviewing vehicle operation data, understanding what happened during a safety critical event, or exercising their privacy rights, Tesla is dedicated to supporting vehicle owners through it all.
Our team builds the privacy systems and investigation tools that make this possible. We develop platforms that fulfill vehicle owner data requests, generate visual reports that help owners understand vehicle behavior during safety critical events, and support stakeholder teams in making Tesla vehicles even better and safer.
You'll work at the intersection of privacy compliance, vehicle telemetry, and safety; building tools that turn CAN signals into customer-facing reports and much more.
What You'll Do
Design, develop, and deploy full-stack features for our core web applications; from backend APIs to frontend UI
Contribute to tools that support data transparency and help interpret safety critical event data
Build and maintain reliable data pipelines and APIs
Create intuitive interfaces that visualize complex datasets for diverse audiences; vehicle owners, engineering, and legal
Partner with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new capabilities
Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code and improve system reliability over time
What You'll Bring
Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience
Proven experience building and shipping full-stack web applications in production
Strong Python skills, with experience in web frameworks such as Flask or Django
Solid experience with modern JavaScript and React for building interactive UIs
Working knowledge of both SQL (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB) databases
Interest in data visualization and user-centered product design
Strong problem-solving skills, sense of ownership, and attention to detail
Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical partners
Experience building data pipelines, analytics platforms, internal tools, or experience visualizing time-series data a plus
Exposure to privacy, security, or compliance workflows and familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as CCPA, or GDPR a nice to have
