About the role

BLD Engineers is an Australian engineering consultancy providing engineering, project delivery, design, testing and commissioning services across the energy, transport, water and infrastructure sectors.

Due to continued growth and upcoming transmission and renewable energy projects, we are seeking an experienced Secondary – Protection & Control Design Electrical Engineer to join our team.

About the Role

Working within our Energy team, you will support the design and delivery of high-voltage transmission and substation projects.

Responsibilities include:

Preparing protection and control designs for high-voltage substations.

Developing secondary systems and switching schemes for new and existing electrical equipment.

Preparing relay protection diagrams, schematics and wiring diagrams.

Preparing general arrangement drawings, cable block diagrams and cable schedules.

Supporting protection relay replacement and upgrade projects.

Designing and reviewing low-voltage switchgear and protection panel circuits.

Coordinating with primary, civil, planning, procurement and drafting teams.

Reviewing designs for compliance with relevant standards, client specifications and project requirements.

Supporting renewable energy and load-management schemes connected to transmission and substation networks.

Producing engineering drawings and technical documentation using AutoCAD.

Providing technical support during design, construction, testing and commissioning activities.

About You

To be successful you will have:

Degree in Electrical Engineering

At least five years of relevant electrical engineering experience.

Experience in protection and control or secondary systems design.

Experience working with high-voltage substations or transmission systems.

Experience preparing electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and engineering documentation.

Experience using AutoCAD.

Understanding of transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, protection panels and substation control equipment.

Ability to coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering and project teams.

Professional English communication and technical reporting skills.

Desirable

Experience with substations operating at 132 kV or above.

Relay replacement or protection upgrade experience.

Experience with utilities, transmission or EPC projects
