Administration / Student Support Officer - VET Sector Experience Required
Location: Melbourne - Level 5/131 Queen St, Melbourne VIC 3000
We are a growing Australian RTO (Registered Training Organization) in Sydney seeking an experienced Administration / Student Support Officer who understands the VET sector and has genuine experience supporting international and domestic students in a training environment.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS - Please do not apply unless you meet these:
Minimum 2-3 years' experience working in a Registered Training Organization (RTO) or VET college
Proven experience in student administration within the vocational education sector
Understanding of ESOS Act, CRICOS, and international student compliance
Experience with student management systems used in RTOs (e.g., ARMS, Wisenet, VETtrak, or similar)
Direct experience managing student enrolments, CoEs, and student visa matters
About the Role
This is not an entry-level position. We need someone who can hit the ground running with existing knowledge of the Australian VET sector, student compliance requirements, and RTO operations.
You will be the first point of contact for our diverse student body, supporting them throughout their study journey while ensuring compliance with ASQA standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Manage student enrolments, attendance monitoring, and compliance reporting
Communicate with students regarding course progress, attendance requirements, and documentation
Liaise with education agents and process student referrals
Handle CoE issuance, deferments, cancellations, and PRISMS updates
Maintain accurate student records in our student management system
Provide administrative support to trainers and assessors
Assist with reception duties including greeting students, answering calls, and responding to enquiries
Support compliance activities including attendance tracking and intervention strategies
Essential Experience & Skills
2-3 years working in an RTO or VET college environment (mandatory)
Sound understanding of international student regulations and compliance
Experience with PRISMS and student visa requirements
Familiarity with ASQA standards and RTO obligations
Strong communication skills with ability to support students from diverse cultural backgrounds
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and RTO student management systems
Calm, approachable personality with a genuine passion for student support
Highly Regarded
Experience working with education agents and recruitment partners
Knowledge of different visa subclasses and student visa conditions
Understanding of RPL processes and credit transfer procedures
Exposure to compliance audits or ASQA requirements

Pay: $26.44 – $28.00 per hour

Compensation
This Other role pays $55k-$58k/yr. Within typical range for other roles in Australia.
