DESCRIPTION AND VISION OF CORLANN

Corlann West Region provide a community based, person centred service focusing on the needs and abilities of children and adults with intellectual disabilities. The vision of Corlann is to support people with intellectual disabilities to achieve a full and valued life in their community, in line with best practice both nationally and internationally. Working in partnership with each person supported by Corlann, we aim to create opportunities for people supported by Corlann to have ordinary life experiences and to be closely connected to family and friends. We are committed to supporting people to live a life of their choosing.

Orchard Adult Services provide a range of community-based services including day, residential, respite, community outreach, family support and a range of multidisciplinary support services. People are supported in day centres, supported employment, social and micro enterprises, training and education and these can be in groups or individualised. People are supported in residential settings in their own homes in the community individually and in groups. We wish to create opportunities for people who use our services to have valued social roles in their communities and to form friendships.

The Role:

The Senior Instructor/Supervisor will report to, and work alongside, the Team Leader, and will fulfil a key worker role for individuals identified. We aim to provide a safe, secure environment where:

have the opportunity to engage in new experiences.

The Senior Instructor/Supervisor will also be expected to stand in for the Team Leader in their absence, and be capable of assuming the role of senior person on duty when required, offering a point of contact, advice and support for the wider Orchard Services if necessary. The successful candidate will initially be assigned to work within a specific Orchard Day Service; however, this work location may change depending on service needs.

Reporting/Responsible to:

Team Manager / Service Coordinator / Area Manager Location.

Qualifications/Experience/Skills:

Candidates should have at least QQI Level 7 qualification relevant to the Social Care sector or equivalent, Community Development, Creative Digital Media, Creative Arts, Arts and Design i.e. Pottery, Ceramics, Craft Textiles.

At least 2-3 years previous experience in designing and implementing programmes to enable them to carry out successfully the duties of the post together with an appreciation of the needs of persons with an intellectual disability is desirable. Training will be provided.

A full clean manual Driving Licence, which qualifies you to drive manual transmission vehicles on Irish Roads and use of your own car is an essential requirement. It may also be necessary for the appointee to obtain a Class D1 Driving Licence (if not already in possession of one). Assistance will be given towards this purpose of obtaining a class D1 licence.

Candidates should be proficient in I.T. Skills i.e. ability to use computers, modern technology, on-line system and assistive technology.

Fluency in verbal and written English is an essential requirement of this post.

The successful candidate should have good team working skills and be able to demonstrate creativity, positivity and enthusiasm in their role.

Working Hours:

1 x Permanent Part-Time 70 hours a fortnight

Rostered Monday to Friday. Contracted hours of work are liable to change from 8am to 8pm to meet the requirements of the programme. Future developments within the services may require that you are prepared to transfer to other work locations as the service needs demand.

Corlann model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures quality and person centred planning system requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each person supported

Annual Leave:

23 days per annum (pro-rata for part-time), i.e. 8.46 hours per 100 hours worked.

Remuneration:

41,431 x 8 increments - 52,317 (Max) per annum pro-rata (Department of Health Senior Instructor/Supervisor Grade as at 01/06/2026). LSI 1 54,011 per annum pro-rata is paid after 3 years on the maximum of the scale. LSI 2 55,805 per annum pro-rata is paid after a further 3 years. The successful candidate will be granted incremental credit subject to satisfactory verification of previous public sector service.

Tenure:

This post is Permanent Part-time and pensionable.

Probation:

A probationary period of nine months from the date of appointment applies to the post. The employment may be terminated at any time during the probationary period should the employer find that the appointee is unsuitable to continue employment. The probation period may be extended at the Employers discretion.
