About the Role
The Engineering Manager oversees all engineering operations including shop drawings, work order generation, quality control, and technical execution of custom projects. This role ensures projects are engineered accurately, efficiently, and in alignment with company standards for quality, manufacturability, and customer satisfaction.
Core Responsibilities:
Engineering & Technical Execution
Oversee the creation and review of shop drawings, factory work orders, and cutlists.
Ensure engineering outputs are accurate, complete, and aligned with project specifications.
Collaborate with Project Management, Production, and Sales to deliver technically sound solutions for custom projects.
Identify and resolve engineering challenges proactively to avoid production delays.
Ensure engineering deliverables meet client timelines and contribute to overall customer satisfaction through responsiveness, clarity, and technical excellence.
Quality Control & Standards
Establish and enforce engineering standards to ensure accuracy, clarity, and completeness in all documentation.
Implement review processes that reduce errors, rework, and ambiguity while improving turnaround time.
Partner with Production to ensure designs are manufacturable, efficient, and aligned with cost objectives.
Confirm engineered solutions can be installed successfully in the field and provide technical support to troubleshoot installation issues as needed.
Track key engineering KPIs and lead corrective and continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
Department Leadership & Management:
Create a positive work environment that drives excellence in productivity, customer service and quality.
Provide leadership to direct reports through mentorship and goal setting.
Perform performance reviews for direct reports.
Manage labor availability to complete workload and to enhance cross-training for increased . flexibility.
Monitor department budgets and assist in defining annual budgets.
Drive best practices in all areas of responsibility.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering or a closely related field.
Proven experience leading multifunctional teams across various domains, including manufacturing, process improvement, product development, and software development.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
Practical experience with Python for data analysis, automation, or process improvement tasks.
Excellent problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
Strong communication and leadership abilities, with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Knowledge of industry best practices and methodologies related to manufacturing and product development.
