We are seeking two friendly and professional people to join us on a permanent basis (Weekends and 3 Rostered Week Days) as a front of house staff member within our Visitor Services team.

As a Guide Host, some key responsibilities will include:

Delivering engaging guided tours and visitor experiences

Providing exceptional customer service and responding to visitor enquiries

Processing sales, maintaining records and stock at the Museum Shop

Promoting a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all visitors

The salary for this role ranges from $59,592 - $67,370, inclusive of a 4% superannuation contribution. Appointments within this range are based on skills and experience.

If you have excellent communication skills and enjoy interacting with customers, a passion for naval or military history and/or experience in the tourism or museum sector, and want to be part of our team, we'd love to hear from you.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

A strong customer focus and excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to relate to a diverse group of people

Demonstrated experience in front line visitor services in the tourism or museum sector

An interest in New Zealand, military or naval history and an enthusiasm for sharing stories with others

A current first aid certificate

A customer service based certificate

Conversational skills in a second language is advantageous but not essential

To be eligible for the required level of government security clearance with the NZ Defence Force, you need to meet certain citizenship and residency criteria. Here's what you need to know:

Low Level Security Clearance

You must be a New Zealand citizen or you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa.

At minimum, you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa, and you must be a citizen of and have lived in Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, United States of America or New Zealand continuously for the last five (5) years.

You must have a five (5) year background history that can be verified and assessed appropriately by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) to determine if you are suitable for a security clearance at this level.
