About the role

Software Developer – Automation & Systems Integration

At Parkwood Master Builder, we start with you!

If you see a spreadsheet being emailed around for the fifth time and your first thought is “there has to be a better way,” you might be exactly who we’re looking for.

Parkwood is a fast-moving home builder. We build highly personalized homes, which means our process touches a lot of systems: sales, estimating, drafting, purchasing, construction, warranty, finance and customer experience. There is a lot of information moving around. Some of it moves beautifully. Some of it moves by memory, manual follow-up, duplicate entry, heroic employee effort and the occasional “where did that file go?” treasure hunt.

We are trying to fix that.

We are looking for an Software Developer who can help us automate workflows, connect systems, build internal tools and turn messy operational problems into practical software solutions that people actually use.

This is not a help desk role. This is not a “wait for perfect requirements” role. This is not a role for someone who wants to debate best practices for six months before shipping anything useful.

This is a build-and-improve role for someone who can understand a business problem, design a solution, build it, test it, implement it and keep making it better.

The role

Parkwood is building a more connected operating system for the business.

We are linking our core platforms together, creating a middle layer that lets us customize how systems work for us without breaking the native software, and looking for ways to reduce the amount of work that depends on employee memory, manual tracking and tribal knowledge.

You will work closely with our IT Project Manager / Software Engineer and support the future vision as the broader roadmap takes shape.

That is where you come in.

You will help build the tools, automations, integrations and internal systems that make Parkwood faster, cleaner and easier to run.

What you’ll do

You will help Parkwood turn operational friction into working systems.

That means you will:

Build internal tools, automations and integrations that reduce manual work across the business

Work with sales, estimating, drafting, purchasing, construction, warranty and finance to understand where the process is breaking down

Connect systems through APIs, databases, middleware, scripts, automation platforms and practical custom development

Help build and support a middle layer between core software platforms so Parkwood can customize workflows without disrupting native systems

Use tools like SQL, Power BI, SharePoint, Power Automate, Power Apps, AI tools and light custom code to solve real business problems

Help create clean data flows so information does not have to be entered, checked and chased in five different places

Build smaller tools and improvements that make day-to-day work easier for employees

Support live reporting, dashboards and one-source-of-truth data projects

Help move Parkwood toward stronger knowledge bases, templates and process tools so employees can apply their expertise without carrying everything in their heads

Contribute to future-facing projects like live home customization, real-time pricing logic and better customer-facing digital tools

Test, document, launch and support the tools you build so they actually get adopted

Look for small wins that compound into a much better business

What success looks like in the first 3 months

You are not here to make a beautiful backlog that no one ever gets to. You are here to help ship useful improvements.

Success in this role looks like:

Repetitive manual workflows are being automated or simplified

Teams are spending less time chasing information and more time doing the work that actually matters

Internal tools are being built, tested and used by real employees

Data is becoming cleaner, more connected and more trusted

Smaller system improvements are moving faster because the IT Project Manager has another capable builder beside him

Departments feel like technology is helping them, not adding another layer of confusion

Parkwood has fewer duplicate spreadsheets, fewer manual reminders and fewer “only one person knows how this works” situations

Leadership has better visibility into what is happening across the business

Who you are

You are a builder.

You do not just talk about solutions. You like turning problems into working tools.

You are technical enough to design, build and implement real solutions, but practical enough to understand that the best system is the one people will actually use. You can work inside messy business processes without getting overwhelmed by them. You can ask good questions, find the real issue and then start building.

You are probably the kind of person who gets mildly irritated by duplicate data entry. You notice when a process is being held together by memory and goodwill. You have strong opinions about making things simpler, but you are not precious about the first version. You would rather prototype, learn and improve than wait forever for perfect conditions.

You respect security, structure and good development practices, but you do not hide behind them. You know the goal is not to win a theoretical architecture debate. The goal is to make the business run better.

Experience that helps

We are flexible on the exact path, but you should bring real technical ability.

Helpful experience includes:

Software development, systems integration, automation or internal tools development

Strong working knowledge of SQL and relational databases

Experience connecting systems through APIs, middleware, scripts or automation platforms

Comfort with Microsoft 365 tools such as SharePoint, Teams, Power Automate, Power Apps and Power BI

Experience building dashboards, reporting tools or operational data flows

Ability to work with business users, understand their pain points and turn that into usable software

Comfort with light coding, scripting and modern AI-assisted development tools

Experience with ERP, CRM, construction management, estimating, purchasing, finance or document management systems would be an asset

Homebuilding, construction, real estate or operational business experience would be helpful, but it is not required

The Parkwood Difference

Working at Parkwood means being part of a company that wants to build better homes and a better business.

We are not trying to add technology for the sake of technology. We are trying to make the company faster, smarter and easier to work in. We want systems that reduce frustration, improve decision-making and help good people spend more time using their judgment and less time chasing information.

We offer:

Competitive compensation and benefits

A fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment

Real business problems to solve, not pretend innovation work

Direct exposure to leadership and multiple departments

The chance to build tools that people will actually use

Personal development and coaching opportunities

A company that is serious about using automation, AI, systems and data to improve how we work

If you are going to build systems here, those systems need to support the way we actually want to work: clearer, smarter, more connected and less painful than what they replaced.

Send your resume and a brief note telling us about something you have built, automated, integrated or improved.

We are less interested in a perfect cover letter and more interested in how you think, what you have shipped and whether you can help us move.
