Position Overview:
Reporting to the Executive Chef, the Second Cook is responsible for helping to maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen as well as delivering a high-quality culinary experience for guests of all kinds including in the restaurant and banquet facilities. This position requires the individual to work as per the demands of the facility, which includes shifts during the evenings on some weekends and holidays.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Assist the First Cook in preparing and maintaining the kitchen area
Work on the line and close the kitchen down under supervision
Develop a comprehensive understanding of the restaurant and food truck menus and the ability to proficiently cook those stations
Assist in preparing and delivering food to various locations, such as the concession and banquet buffet
Assist in maintaining the general upkeep of the banquet buffet area
Prepare and stock ingredients on the line
Assist in the removal of garbage, recycling, organics etc.
Ensure that the quality standards set by the Executive Chef are consistently achieved
Monitor daily temperature checks as per HACCP
Ensure FoodSafe standards are maintained
Communicate any issues with food products to the appropriate manager
Complete daily opening and/or closing checklists
Adhere to uniform standards
Maintain a clean and organized work area
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Six months of experience in a similar culinary role is required
Willingness to complete a Police Information Check is required
Valid Basic First Aid, CPR-C and AED Certification, or equivalent, will be required to be maintained throughout employment
Valid Food Safe Level 1 is an asset
