Recruiter Plus (Independent Contractor)

City Voices – Companion Connections Program $200/month 6‑month contract Remote/Flexible

City Voices is seeking a motivated, well‑connected community member to help our Companion Connections program - a peer‑led initiative supporting people in mental health and addiction recovery who are experiencing loneliness or isolation. This is a results‑based role focused on bringing new volunteers and participants into the program and helping them stay engaged.

About the Role

Position: Recruiter Plus Compensation: $1,200 total ($200/month for 6 months) Schedule: Flexible; you choose your outreach methods and timing Status: Independent Contractor Location: Remote, with optional NYC-based community engagement

This role is not hours‑based. Your success is measured by achieving clear recruitment goals over six months.

Key Responsibilities

Recruit 10 volunteers with lived experience in mental health, addiction recovery, re-entry, or related peer communities.

Recruit 12 participants who may be experiencing loneliness or isolation.

Learn the Companion Connections program and confidently explain it to potential recruits.

Use your personal, professional, and community networks to identify people who are a strong fit.

Encourage participants to attend monthly CC events through reminders and relationship-building.

Promote CC events within relevant communities.

Participate in occasional Zoom meetings with City Voices staff.

Maintain reliable, timely communication.

Who We’re Looking For

Someone connected to peer support, recovery, re-entry, mental health, or community-based networks.

Comfortable reaching out to people - both known and new - with warmth and clarity.

Strong follow-through and reliability.

Motivated by clear, achievable goals.

Able to stay organized over a 6‑month commitment.

A natural relationship-builder who can encourage hesitant or isolated individuals.

Milestones & Performance Expectations

Recruitment goals are cumulative across the 6‑month contract:

Months 1–2: 3 volunteers + 4 participants

Months 3–4: 7 volunteers + 8 participants

Months 5–6: 10 volunteers + 12 participants (final target)

If milestones are not met, City Voices and the contractor may revise the agreement or either party may step down without penalty. Payments are prorated if the contract ends early.

Compensation

$200/month for 6 months

Paid via direct deposit or check

Compensation remains steady even if recruitment is completed early

Contractor is responsible for taxes

Independent Contractor Status

This is not an employee role. You will set your own schedule, choose your outreach methods, and use your own equipment.
