About the role

Job Description:

About AXA:

AXA is a global leader in insurance and financial services, dedicated to helping customers protect what matters most to them. As the sixth-largest insurance company in the world, we provide a wide range of services, including health, car, home, and business insurance. We support millions of customers worldwide, helping them navigate life's uncertainties with confidence.

AXA UK Support Functions look after our three customer-facing business units, providing the infrastructure and expertise to make sure we can be there for our customers.

Job overview:

We’re looking for a Technology Delivery Lead to join a regulated, product-led technology organisation delivering complex change across AXA UK. As Technology Delivery Lead, you’ll direct the delivery of complex technology outcomes across multiple interdependent teams, working across product, engineering, architecture, test and release to turn strategic intent into high-quality execution.

This is a senior delivery leadership role for someone who is comfortable operating in ambiguity, shaping delivery approaches where they are not yet fully defined, and bringing clarity, pace and control to complex enterprise change. You’ll work in a product operating model and will be expected to connect strategic technology priorities with consistent delivery quality on the ground. You’ll need strong enterprise delivery credentials, a practical understanding of modern software delivery, and the ability to engage credibly with engineering teams, architects, product leaders and senior stakeholders.

Key responsibilities:

Lead delivery across multiple teams, aligning product, engineering, architecture, security, testing and release around clear outcomes and realistic plans

Take ownership for the successful delivery of complex technology initiatives, ensuring appropriate governance, risk management, dependency management and reporting

Bring structure to ambiguous problem spaces, translating broad objectives into executable plans, milestones and measurable outcomes

Work closely with engineering and architecture teams to ensure delivery supports long-term platform health, including management of technical debt, resilience, maintainability and alignment to technology strategy

Review where AI can assist in complex requirements analysis, and digital change management in general

Drive high-quality execution by reinforcing strong SDLC disciplines, including planning, dependency management, non-functional requirements, testing strategy, release readiness and production support considerations

Partner with product leaders to balance business value delivery with the responsible management of technical debt, operational support and platform sustainability

Lead across internal teams and third-party suppliers, ensuring accountability is clear and delivery issues are surfaced and resolved early

Foster a delivery culture built on ownership, transparency, continuous improvement and close collaboration with engineering teams

Work arrangements:

At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least two days a week (40%) away from home, moving to three days a week (60%) in the future. Away from home means attending the office, visiting clients or attending industry events. We’re also happy to consider flexible working arrangements, which you can discuss with Talent Acquisition.

Your skills & experience:

Strong experience leading enterprise technology delivery in complex organisations

Proven ability to lead across multiple teams and workstreams in environments with significant interdependency

Knowledge of, and ideally experience in, using AI tooling within harnesses such as Copilot CLI, or Claude Code/Open AI Codex to assist in managing your work

Able to operate effectively in ambiguity, bringing clarity, structure and momentum to evolving priorities and incomplete problem definitions

Comprehensive understanding of core CIO principles, including technical debt, architecture strategy, operational support, resilience, supportability and long-term cost of ownership

Experience working in a product operating model, with prioritisation driven by business value, platform needs and risk considerations

Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across product, engineering, operations, architecture and senior leadership

Knowledge of what good software delivery looks like, including SDLC controls, engineering quality, DevSecOps practices, release management and production readiness

Experience working in a regulated environment, ideally within financial services
