Experienced Airport Civil Engineer / Project Manager

Mead & Hunt, an award-winning national architecture and engineering firm, has continued to exceed our strategic growth initiatives creating opportunity for our current and prospective team members. As a result, a full-time position is available for an experienced civil engineer / project manager to join our collaborative and innovative aviation team at our Chicago, IL office. This position will include a hybrid of both design and field work on runways, taxiways, aprons, highways, roads, and other related civil engineering projects as needed.

Responsibilities include:

Managing, designing and leading airport civil engineering projects

Evaluating and analyzing existing projects

Preparing reports, budgets, cost estimates, specifications, plans, schedules, studies, and permits

Performing QA/QC tasks including leading design reviews

Developing construction cost estimates for projects

Serving as the onsite project engineer on construction projects as needed

Visiting project sites to monitor progress and handling routine construction administration

Assisting with client communications and attending client meetings.

Other tasks as assigned.

A valid driver’s license and up to approximately 25% travel (including some overnights) will be required.

The successful candidate will have the following background:

Bachelor's degree (or higher) in civil engineering or related field from an accredited college or university

At least 6 years of relevant work experience

PE License in the state of IL and ability to obtain in additional states as needed

The ideal candidate will have experience in any/all the following:

At least 10 years of relevant previous experience on airport and/or transportation projects is highly preferred

Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D software

Heavy civil construction experience

Salary Range: $99,000 to $146,000 – Actual compensation may vary due to other factors such as: experience, skill set or location.
