Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Piping Draftsman with 15+ years of experience in the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or Process Equipment industry. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in AutoCAD Plant 3D and/or CADWorx, with strong experience in 3D piping modelling, piping layouts, piping detailing, pipe supports, and fabrication drawings for combustion, incinerator, thermal oxidizer, flare, fired heater, and other packaged equipment systems.
This role requires sound technical knowledge of piping drafting, close collaboration with multidisciplinary and global engineering teams, and a commitment to delivering high-quality engineering documentation within project schedules.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Analyze complex project specifications, P&IDs, equipment drawings, and engineering requirements, with a focus on piping layouts, routing, and 3D modelling.
Prepare detailed 3D piping models and 2D fabrication drawings using AutoCAD Plant 3D, CADWorx, or equivalent 2D/3D CAD software.
Develop piping layouts for combustion systems, thermal oxidizers, incinerators, flares, fired heaters, pressure vessels, skids, and other process packages.
Prepare and review high-quality engineering drawings including:
General Arrangement (GA) Drawings
Equipment Layout Drawings
Piping Plans
Isometric Drawings
Pipe Support Drawings
Fabrication & Spool Drawings
Foundation Interface Drawings
Sectional Views and Detailed Profiles
Perform piping detailing including routing, support detailing, nozzle orientation, tie-ins, and fabrication details.
Model piping components such as valves, fittings, flanges, instruments, specialty items, and structural supports.
Ensure piping layouts consider accessibility, constructability, fabrication, maintenance requirements, and piping stress considerations.
Prepare and maintain Material Take-Offs (MTO), Bill of Materials (BOM), and piping drawing registers where applicable.
Ensure all drawings comply with applicable industry codes, standards, client specifications, and dimensional tolerances (ASME, ANSI, API, MSS, etc.).
Proficiently utilize AutoCAD Plant 3D, CADWorx, or equivalent CAD software to execute, review, and update piping models and detailed engineering drawings.
Collaborate closely with Lead Engineers, Process Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Structural Engineers, and global engineering teams for day-to-day project execution.
Participate in and support model review meetings, design review sessions, and client review meetings; resolve design comments and incorporate review feedback effectively.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering and design teams to maintain quality standards and ensure timely project execution.
Guide junior draftsmen/designers and provide technical support across multiple concurrent projects.
Support documentation control, drawing revisions, engineering change management, and document control procedures in accordance with company and project standards.
Maintain drawing accuracy, quality, and revision control throughout the project lifecycle.
Perform other duties as assigned by Engineering Leadership.
Qualifications and Skills:
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Draftsman Mechanical, or ITI (Mechanical) or equivalent qualification.
15+ years of relevant experience in piping drafting and detailing within the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, EPC, Process Equipment, or Heavy Engineering industry.
Strong expertise in piping drafting for combustion systems, thermal oxidizers, flares, incinerators, fired heaters, pressure vessels, skids, or similar packaged equipment is highly preferred.
Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Plant 3D, CADWorx, and AutoCAD 2D.
Strong understanding of:

Piping material specifications
P&IDs
Good understanding of piping stress considerations, fabrication practices, erection requirements, and constructability.
Familiarity with international engineering standards and client specifications including ASME B31.3, ASME, ANSI, API and other applicable codes.
Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering teams on international projects.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with global engineering teams and clients.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Self-motivated with a proven track record of delivering high-quality engineering drawings within project deadlines.
