AS400 Administrator

Business Title: P3 AS400 Senior Administrator

Classification: Exempt

Reports to: Head of IMS

Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Our innovative company is looking to fill the role of Senior IBM System i Administrator.Day-toDay activities include developing and documenting system specifications, implementing hardware and OS, maintaining high operational uptime and stringent SLAs, coordinating with applications and development teams a,s well as other operational and project-based tasks, mentoring of teammates an,d developing KPIs and operational standards. This is a high-level position so please review the list of responsibilities and qualifications listed below.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Experience with IBM i / iSeries design, creation, execution of custom CL scripts for automation as/where needed

Administration of environment components including security controls, TCP/IP, BRMS, Job control, performance and capacity planning, system updates, and license management

Maintain system High Availability/Disaster Recovery readiness which includes but not limited to IBM PowerHA and Precisely MIMIX

Experience with managing external storage appliances (V7000)

VIOS management and configuration

Perform platform-specific technical tasks including operating system upgrades, installation and configuration of various software packages, installation of patches and fixes (PTFs)

Perform problem analysis, documentation, root-cause analysis, and create incident reports for complex system environments

Maintain documentation of system and application monitoring and scheduling packages

Operation of tape management solutions, including physical and virtual tape libraries (Cybernetics)

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

5+ years of experience in IBM i configuration, administration, troubleshooting a,nd maintenance

Privileged Access Remediation, Object Level Security, IFS Security, Group Profiles, Authorization Lists, Security System Values

Hardware management console (HMC) and LPAR configuration.

Understanding of Data Center Operations, complex batch processing and systems integrations

BRMS backup and restore

Experience developing effective, proactive monitoring and alerting to assure system uptime

Understanding of networking topology and protocols

Clear and concise communications both written and verbal
