Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Forklift Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain electric, propane, and diesel forklifts. This role involves both shop-based repairs and on-site service calls at customer facilities. The ideal candidate has strong troubleshooting skills across multiple forklift brands and takes pride in minimizing equipment downtime for customers.
Responsibilities
Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on forklifts and related material handling equipment
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance including fluid changes, filter replacements, and multi-point inspections
Complete repairs on engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, brakes, steering, and mast assemblies
Read and interpret wiring diagrams and technical manuals for troubleshooting electrical systems
Travel to customer sites to perform on-site repairs and maintenance as needed
Maintain accurate service records, including parts used, labor hours, and repair details
Communicate clearly with customers and dispatch regarding repair status and recommendations
Keep service vehicle stocked and organized with required tools and parts inventory
Follow all safety protocols and OSHA guidelines while performing repairs
Qualifications
2 or more years of experience repairing forklifts or similar mobile equipment (heavy trucks, construction equipment, or agricultural equipment experience also considered)
Working knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
Experience servicing multiple forklift brands preferred (Toyota, Hyster, Yale, Crown, Clark, or similar)
Valid driver's license with clean driving record
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varied physical positions including kneeling, bending, and reaching
Own basic hand tools (specialty and diagnostic tools provided)
Strong communication skills and customer service orientation
Forklift certification or manufacturer specific training a plus, not required

Compensation
This Trades & Manual role pays $20k-$35k/yr. Within typical range for trades & manual roles in United States.
