Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Development
Recruit, train, coach, and develop Produce Department associates.
Schedule associates to meet customer service and operational requirements.
Provide ongoing performance coaching, recognition, and corrective action when appropriate.
Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and customer service excellence.
Support succession planning and associate development initiatives.
Customer Service
Ensure outstanding customer service is consistently delivered.
Assist customers with product selection, preparation, and produce-related inquiries.
Resolve customer concerns and service issues promptly and professionally.
Promote customer loyalty through exceptional service and product knowledge.
Maintain a welcoming and customer-focused shopping environment.
Department Operations
Direct daily Produce Department operations, including ordering, receiving, stocking, rotation, and merchandising.
Ensure displays are fully stocked, attractive, and maintained according to company standards.
Monitor inventory levels and order products to maintain freshness and in-stock conditions.
Ensure accurate pricing, signage, and promotional execution.
Oversee proper product handling, storage, and rotation procedures.
Product Quality & Freshness
Maintain the highest standards of freshness, quality, and presentation.
Conduct regular inspections of products and displays.
Remove damaged, outdated, or unsellable merchandise promptly.
Monitor product conditions to minimize shrink and maximize sales.
Ensure department standards consistently support a premium shopping experience.
Merchandising & Sales Growth
Execute company merchandising programs, seasonal displays, and promotional events.
Create attractive displays that maximize product visibility and sales.
Analyze department sales and identify opportunities for growth.
Support local merchandising initiatives and seasonal business opportunities.
Ensure produce displays remain visually appealing and abundant throughout the day.
Financial Management
Manage department labor, expenses, inventory, and shrink.
Monitor financial performance and key departmental metrics.
Develop and implement action plans to achieve sales and profitability goals.
Ensure efficient scheduling and labor utilization.
Maintain inventory accuracy and effective stock management practices.
Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with company policies, food safety standards, and sanitation requirements.
Maintain a safe working environment for associates and customers.
Support shrink reduction and loss prevention initiatives.
Ensure all equipment is operated safely and maintained properly.
Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong leadership and associate development skills.
Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
Knowledge of produce merchandising, inventory management, freshness standards, and department operations.
Understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
Ability to analyze sales and operational reports.
Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced retail environment.
Proficiency with retail business systems and ordering technology.
