About the role

About the Role

Drive the growth of renewable energy services across the UK, securing new commercial opportunities and helping deliver a cleaner, more sustainable future.

At EDF power solutions, we’re shaping an Electric UK and Ireland. Your work will help us turn that ambition into action – delivering renewable energy solutions that will power homes, businesses and communities for generations to come.

As our Business Development Manager, you’ll play a key role in identifying, developing, and securing new opportunities across our operational renewable energy portfolio. Your commercial expertise will help drive business growth, support strategic decision-making, and contribute to our long-term net zero ambitions.

The Opportunity

As Business Development Manager, you’ll lead the development of commercial opportunities within Asset Operations, supporting business strategy implementation and helping maximise value across the operational lifecycle of our renewable energy assets. You’ll work closely with commercial, procurement, finance, engineering, legal and operational teams to develop successful tender submissions and secure new business opportunities.

Alongside a competitive salary and potential for an annual bonus, this hybrid role offers flexibility, with time spent at any of our office in #Durham, and occasional travel required for collaboration and key meetings.

You’ll be responsible for preparing commercial business cases, analysing profitability, managing opportunities through the full sales lifecycle, and supporting contract negotiations. This is an opportunity to influence senior stakeholders, shape commercial strategy, and contribute directly to the continued growth of EDF power solutions’ operational business.

Why EDF power solutions?

We’re united by a shared ambition: to tackle climate change, shaping an Electric UK and Ireland. Our diverse team is growing fast, driven by innovation and a commitment to clean, green energy for all.

With technologies spanning onshore and offshore wind, solar, battery storage and green hydrogen, we’re the UK and Ireland’s most diverse renewable generator. By 2035, we aim to deliver 10GW of low-carbon energy – and we’d love you to help us get there.

Who You Are

We’re looking for a Business Development Manager who combines commercial expertise with a proactive and collaborative approach. You’ll be comfortable working across multiple stakeholder groups, developing complex tenders and contracts, and supporting business growth within an engineering, industrial or operational environment. To be shortlisted, you need to offer…

Either a degree-level qualification in a related discipline, or significant commercial experience demonstrating an equivalent level of knowledge and expertise

Experience working in an operational environment within the wind energy sector

Comprehensive knowledge of contract development with a proven track record of supporting or delivering successful commercial agreements

Knowledge of business insurance and practical application of health, safety and environmental requirements

Whilst not essential, an MCIPS or MRICS qualification and experience in ERP systems development would be advantageous.

What You’ll Be Doing

Leading business development activities and supporting implementation of Asset Operations business strategy

Developing and coordinating commercial tender responses and bid submissions

Analysing operational and financial data to support tender and investment decisions

Identifying and qualifying new business opportunities and revenue streams

Managing opportunities through the full business development lifecycle

Preparing business cases, presentations and budget analysis for senior stakeholders

Supporting contract negotiations and securing new operational service agreements

Building strong relationships with commercial, procurement, engineering, finance and operational teams

Monitoring market trends and recommending approaches to support future growth

Ensuring adherence to governance requirements, confidentiality obligations and audit standards
