EXTENDED DAY PROGRAM STAFF (PART-TIME)

Westside School is seeking part-time individuals to work in our Extended Day Program (EDP). The role of the EDP staff member is to supervise children, coordinate activities, and work in conjunction with other staff. This role may include additional school duties and has the potential to be full-time during the summer.

Compensation and Benefits: This is a part-time, hourly position for the 2026-2027 school year. $27.00 - $29.00/hour

Reports to: Director of Student and Family Life + Auxiliary & Experiential Programs Manager

Start Date: As Soon As Possible

Hours: Monday through Friday, 2:00-5:30 pm

Responsibilities include:

Supervise students in the Extended Day Program and ensure their safety.

Greet students and monitor sign-in and sign-out procedures.

Assist in planning, preparing, and implementing daily activities and lessons.

Instruct students in small groups, individually, or as a whole class.

Maintain a healthy, fun, and structured classroom environment.

Assist with snack preparation.

Maintain tidiness and organization of EDP classrooms and the school playground.

Serve as a role model for students.

Successful candidates will have the following personal and professional attributes:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Food Handlers Permit, First Aid/CPR certification, Bloodborne Pathogens certification, Mandated Reporting training, and 30-hours of Child Care Basics, or willingness to obtain

Portable Background Check/Fingerprinting and Tuberculin Skin Test, as required by DCYF, or willingness to obtain

Love of working with children in an outstanding professional setting

Prior experience working with preschool and/or elementary school students

A willingness to learn about, reflect upon, and support a dynamic learning environment

Understanding of how systemic and institutional barriers affect students' learning experiences and outcomes

Sensitivity to issues of bias, racism, prejudice, and stereotyping

Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of the children and program

Ability to maintain confidential information

Ability to work and communicate well with all levels of faculty and staff

Ability to work and communicate well with students and their parents

An expressed effort to collaborate with colleagues, accept feedback, and conduct oneself in a professional manner

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar

Skill in communicating effectively, orally and in writing

Ability to use sound judgment and work independently

Ability to have consistent, prompt, and punctual attendance

Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
