Regional Head of Insurance – Brazil & North America
Position Summary
The Regional Head of Insurance – Brazil & North America is responsible for leading, managing, and growing the insurance business across North America and Latin America. This role ensures strategic alignment with the Global Head of Insurance while adapting to regional market conditions, customer needs, and regulatory frameworks. The position requires a balance of commercial leadership, operational excellence, and risk management oversight.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute the insurance strategy for the region Brazil & North America in alignment with global head of insurance and corporate priorities.
Provide mentorship, leadership and direction to regional insurance teams across underwriting, distribution, claims, and product development.
Constantly monitor and identify risk opportunities and propose adequate, cost-effective risk transfer solutions.
Identify and capitalize on market opportunities, including new insurance products, insurance partnerships, and distribution channels.
Ensure compliance with insurance regulations across Brazil and North America.
Partner with the Regional Chief Risk Officer and Compliance teams to maintain strong risk governance.
Represent regional interests in global insurance forums and contribute to group-wide strategic decisions.
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, brokers, insurers, and regulators.
Key Skills & Competencies
Deep knowledge of insurance markets in Brazil and North America.
Proven leadership experience across multiple geographies and cultures.
Strong understanding of underwriting, claims, distribution, and insurance operations.
Ability to balance global strategy with local market realities.
Expertise in regulatory and compliance frameworks relevant to the region.
Commercial acumen with a track record of delivering exceptional solutions.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or related field (Master’s preferred).
Consistent and progressive experience in the insurance industry, with a senior leadership role.
Experience managing regional or multinational insurance operations.
Fluency in Portuguese and English required; additionally Spanish would be advantageous.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Regional insurance P&L performance (revenue growth, profitability, cost management).
Market share growth in key lines of business across the region.
Regulatory compliance and risk audit outcomes.
Employee engagement and leadership development metrics.
Execution of strategic initiatives and alignment with global priorities.
Reporting Lines
Functional line: Global Head of Insurance (for strategic and commercial alignment)
Direct line: Regional Chief Risk Officer (for compliance and risk oversight)
