Power Management Engineer (80%-100%) (m/f/d)

Research & Development delivers hearing solutions and services for people with hearing loss, hearing care professionals, and further related people, in the form of hearing instruments, accessories, web services, mobile applications, and PC software.

As a Power Management Engineer, you will hold a pivotal role in enabling the industry‑leading AI hearing functions that define our next‑generation products. You are the one who ensures that cutting‑edge intelligence is not only possible, but reliably powered every moment. This position sits at the crossroads of multiple technical domains: electronic design, battery innovation, and embedded software, offering a uniquely dynamic environment where your decisions directly shape performance, efficiency, and user experience. More about the role

Design, develop, and optimize battery and power management systems for hearing instruments and charging solutions

Specify, integrate, and validate power management circuits for rechargeable and non-rechargeable battery systems

Evaluate, specify, integrate, and optimize Power Management ICs (PMICs) and related power conversion architectures for future hearing instruments and charging systems

Define and implement battery management algorithms and power strategies, including State of Charge and State of Health estimation, charging behavior, protection mechanisms, and energy optimization

Collaborate closely with hardware and firmware teams to ensure robust integration of battery and power management functions into the overall hearing instrument and charger architecture

Develop and validate electrical and system-level models for power consumption, load profiles, and battery behavior under different operating conditions

Analyze and debug complex power-related system issues, driving root-cause identification and resolution

Contribute to the continuous improvement of power management platforms, methods, and development processes, and stay informed about emerging technologies and trends

Evaluate emerging power management technologies and energy management concepts to support future product generations

More about you

Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Microelectronics, or a related field

Proven experience in the design of power management systems for low-power embedded devices, including DC/DC conversion, load switches, charging circuits, and energy-efficient architectures

Experience with rechargeable and non-rechargeable battery technologies, as well as a strong understanding of system-level behavior, load profiling, power consumption analysis, and battery aging effects

Hands-on experience with electrical characterization, laboratory measurements, and data-driven validation of power systems

Strong programming skills in Python for data analysis, automation, and model development; MATLAB is a plus

Experience in optimizing ultra-low-power systems under strict energy and size constraints is an asset

Experience in debugging complex power-related issues in low-power applications and charging systems is an asset

Structured, proactive, and quality-conscious working style, with the ability to bring forward innovative ideas and collaborate effectively in a distributed, diverse environment

Fluent in English (spoken and written)
