About the role

Role Overview

Don Bosco Tech Society is seeking a competent and passionate Trainer – Data Centre Operations Management to deliver high-quality, industry-oriented training to students in the field of data centre operations and infrastructure management. The trainer will be responsible for delivering theoretical and practical sessions, facilitating hands-on learning, assessing trainee performance, and preparing students for employment opportunities in the data centre and IT infrastructure sector.

The ideal candidate should have strong technical knowledge of data centre operations, IT infrastructure, networking, hardware, and related systems, along with a passion for teaching and mentoring youth.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver classroom and practical training sessions on Data Centre Management and Operations.

Develop and deliver training in line with the prescribed curriculum, training standards, and industry requirements.

Provide hands-on practical demonstrations and ensure effective lab-based learning.

Train students on data centre infrastructure, including servers, storage systems, networking, power, cooling, and physical infrastructure.

Explain concepts related to data centre architecture, operations, monitoring, security, safety, and maintenance.

Provide training on basic server administration, networking fundamentals, hardware troubleshooting, and IT infrastructure support.

Introduce trainees to concepts such as data centre security, access control, backup, disaster recovery, business continuity, and environmental monitoring.

Conduct assessments, practical evaluations, assignments, and regular knowledge checks to monitor trainee progress.

Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessments, learning outcomes, and trainee performance.

Identify learning gaps and provide additional support or remedial training to trainees where required.

Mentor and motivate trainees to improve their technical skills, professional behaviour, and employability.

Support trainees in developing workplace readiness, communication skills, teamwork, and professional etiquette.

Coordinate with the Centre Head and relevant stakeholders regarding training delivery and trainee performance.

Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry practices related to data centres and IT infrastructure.

Ensure proper use, maintenance, and safety of training equipment and laboratory infrastructure.

Support placement and industry engagement activities by preparing trainees for technical interviews and employment opportunities.

Participate in internal reviews, trainer meetings, audits, and other organisational activities as required.

Educational Qualification

Bachelor's degree / Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Networking, Data Centre Management, or a related technical field.

Relevant industry certifications in networking, servers, cloud, data centre operations, or IT infrastructure will be an added advantage.

Experience

2–5 years of relevant industry or training experience in Data Centre Management, IT Infrastructure, Networking, Server Administration, or a related field.

Prior experience as a technical trainer or instructor will be preferred.

Candidates with strong hands-on industry experience and a passion for training and mentoring may also be considered.

Required Skills and Competencies

Strong knowledge of data centre operations and IT infrastructure.

Practical knowledge of servers, networking, hardware, and troubleshooting.

Good understanding of data centre safety, security, power, cooling, and environmental considerations.

Ability to conduct practical demonstrations and hands-on training.

Strong communication and presentation skills.

Ability to explain technical concepts in a simple and understandable manner.

Good classroom management and trainee engagement skills.

Strong mentoring and interpersonal skills.

Ability to assess trainee performance and provide constructive feedback.

Willingness to work with youth from diverse social and educational backgrounds.

Commitment to skill development and youth empowerment.
