Job Profile

In this highly dynamic position, the Operations Manager works alongside the Regional Manager to ensure operational and safety excellence of both the shop and field operations.

This position requires resourcefulness, flexibility and above all a solutions-based attitude.

Job Duties

Responsible for managing all aspects of field and shop staff including efforts relating to project recruitment requirements, selection, training, scheduling, compensation expectations, and performance management

Manage new projects and initiatives with effective scheduling of equipment and other resources, including a deep understanding of the job dynamics and customer requirements; proactively manage potential constraints and initiate corrective actions, where applicable

Respond to change orders requests with timely communication and efficient resource planning, including personnel and equipment needs

Analyze administrative process workflow (ie, sales to estimating, allocation of resources, etc) and project scope requirements relating to personnel and equipment

Meet or exceed labor budget expectations based on project estimated and ensuring appropriate revenue and margin targets are achieved by effectively managing required staff levels, associated wages, total hours, and overall contract labor requirements

Management, analysis, and maintenance of data relating to pipe inventory to ensure effective utilization

Collaborate with Regional Manager and other internal stakeholders on capital investment planning regarding equipment, new technologies, methodologies, systems, and processes.

Work closely with Regional Manager and management team to establish, implement, and communicate operating policies, procedures, and systems to field and shop staff

Develop operations systems by determining product handling and storage requirements and establishing processes and policies for receiving product, equipment utilization, inventory management, and shipping

Effectively contribute to strategic operations planning and review

Create and present project execution action plans

Responsible for all aspects of vehicle and heavy equipment maintenance, procurement, expense management, and rentals

Vendor management to effectively build key operations relationships, track pricing, and review service levels

Review and approve all operational invoices and ensure timely submittal for payment

Implement safety programs and ensure compliance of all safety policies within the shop and field project locations

Maintain safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations

Ensure daily completion of project related tickets and safety documents by field staff Serve as primary point of contact regarding client customer service matters relating to service/product quality, project execution, or accidents and mishaps on-site.

Communicate client issues and challenges with operations team and problem solve to devise solutions for improvement of customer experience

Complete various relevant performance audits to identify and communicate key trends

Effectively communicate expectations relating to production, productivity, quality and customer service standards to field and shop staff

Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in applicable professional organizations

Qualifications

10+ years of civil construction management experience

5-7 years of piling experience would be considered an asset

Experience in management, operations, and leadership roles

Construction or Civil Engineering Technician diploma or bachelor’s degree in operations management or related field

PMP preferred

Ability to collaborate and build relationships among managers, customers, and employees

Understanding of finance and budgeting principles and accountability

Excellent communication skills

Proficient in MS office and related products
